Wish Holiday Bowl was a possibility.

Nov 28, 2021, 3:35 PM

Would be a great destination vs a PAC12 opponent.

As much as we've done for the ACC, it should be up to Dabo to tell Phillips, this is where we want to go, make it happen.

Nov 29, 2021, 4:36 AM

Oh, please! You don't think Dabo would take the Gator Bowl in a heartbeat? 11 am kickoff puts him in bed at a reasonable time Saturday night and it's a lot easier driving distance for the fan base. He isn't drinking before the game. Time to start figuring out how to turn a Bloody Mary orange.

Crap - a 7-4 aTm team that didn't meet any expectations. Another sec game that does nothing for us. About like playing Kentucky, win, well we're supposed too.

I was hoping for ok st or wisky, Iowa st that'd give us recruiting exposure in the Midwest. Or San Diego so the players would have a nice trip.

Why is this just quoting a yankee know-nothing “writer” from Raleigh?

I think I’ll just wait and see what is officially announced next Sunday.

It's been tough to take the SI one seriously when it comes to the ACC. They had Clemson in the Birmingham Bowl last week, which wouldn't have an ACC team in it anyway without 10 bowl-eligible teams. And it doesn't even have an ACC team in the Gator this week.

Not sure but doesn't appear there's a very good handle on the ACC bowl procedures there.

Nov 29, 2021, 4:24 AM [ in reply to Interesting. Are they just being lazy you think?*** ]

Yes, vehemently yes.

In their defense, there are a lot of bowls to pick and a lot of convoluted rules.

On the other hand, the rules stay pretty much the same and this is your job. If they looked at the rules and followed the dollar signs, it gets much easier.

The Duke's Mayo Bowl was not an option on IPTAY's ticket request form that was sent out on November 20.

According to the WRAL article, the Tier One bowl choices are the SDCCU Holiday, Cheez-It, and TaxSlayer Gator. That matches up exactly with the bowls IPTAY listed as options.

Jacksonville is the Columbia of Florida

Nov 28, 2021, 9:43 PM

It's best to keep driving south.

You don't have to go far south, though. St. Augustine is lovely.

Arkansas or Kentucky are not in consideration?

Re: TNET: Updated Clemson bowl projections after the Tigers' strong finish

Nov 28, 2021, 10:39 PM

I think they would be. Georgia, Bama, and Ole Miss are probably going to the CFP/NY6. Then, the next selection from the SEC is the Vrbo Citrus. After that is a large pool of six bowls, including the TaxSlayer Gator. You would expect the Citrus to take one of Kentucky, Arkansas, or Texas A&M. The two that aren't selected for the Citrus would go into that large pool of choices.

Re: TNET: Updated Clemson bowl projections after the Tigers' strong finish

Nov 29, 2021, 3:16 AM

I think the bowls take the teams the SEC tells them to take. I have always believed the SEC has a lot of pull with their bowls so they can get the match ups that are more advantageous to the SEC.

Re: TNET: Updated Clemson bowl projections after the Tigers' strong finish

Nov 29, 2021, 2:58 PM

yes true .. they make up there teams with bowl they think they can win not the ones they deserve. Alabama one 2 Nattys by sticking Tigers in SEC Sugar Bowl where their officials win the games. Plus LSU Natty there where Clemson didn't have chance officials wise.

Re: TNET: Updated Clemson bowl projections after the Tigers' strong finish

Nov 29, 2021, 2:53 PM

The Correct Bowl for Clemson .. isn't in Florida its in Texas .. Tony Tiger Sun Bowl should have at least one Tiger in it Clemson. NCAA should let them drop the Pac 12 team replace with either LSU Auburn or Missouri as their opponent. Both Tigers would set attendance record for that bowl game. I don't know of any other good Tiger teams in NCAA. Also Duke's Mayo Bowl needs to move from Charlotte to Clemson. Duke's Mayo was born in Upstate SC and Yankee Carolina prefer Hellmann's Mayo. You gotta know Hellmann's is terrible when you hot HELL in your name. I am not sure if conference or the bowl decide which teams go.
