Probably shouldn't say that. I've met Monte and have friends that know him. I like him. I like the way he recruits in state. I agree, I'd resign too. I believe there can be situations where for whatever reason, a good coach is just not the right fit at a particular program.

I know a lot of Tiger fans are split about this year’s teams performance. Some would say this team should’ve been better, they below there talents and abilities. Others, ah hear we go another year of disappointment, team can’t stay consistent, blah blah blah. Look, this team is young, let me stress “YOUNG”. Ok, these guys are going to have to go through some growing pains, as well as us true fans, we have to take the good with the bad. Coach understands this, he’s working on it, and believe he’s pulling in recruits who put the MLB on hold, or turned down the MLB cause they wanted that College experience, and then he’s recruiting raw talent that needs a season like this to build them up. So, before we bash, or say negative things, just remember in baseball, you’ve got to have a complete team to compete. Pitching to Batting, has to be consistent. This talent Clemson has, they will get there, for now let’s encourage these guys to do their best!, and GO BEAT DUKE!!! GO TIGERS!! FINISH STRONG!!

This is Clemson baseball. A long proud tradition. If we wanted these kind of results we could’ve kept Jack. Duke is a mediocre team. Clemson was at home playing for a chance to go to the playoffs and gave up 14 runs in four innings. That’s totally unacceptable I don’t care how young they are! You said some of these kids could be playing professional. Most of them probably. That means they should do a hell of a lot better against a mediocre Duke. I get so sick of people making lame ### excuses! I get so tired of Clemson people making excuses for coaches because they’re good people. I don’t care how good they are. They chose this profession. It is a results oriented profession. Win or get fired! Otherwise you tell your fans, donors, alumni, and season-ticket buyers that you don’t care about winning. And if that’s the case let’s just get rid of the #### sport! Clemson doesn’t have but a handful of sports left as it is. That means we should be trying twice as hard in every sport and 100% committed to winning championships in every sport!

On Packer and Durham a few weeks ago PAC said that Stanford has won a national championship every year for 41 consecutive years.

They also talked about UNC, which has 52 national championships and over 265 ACC championships, which is over 125 more ACC championship than the next best school!

Three other schools have more ACC championships. Duke is only a few behind us and FSU is catching up fast despite only being in the conference for 30 years. They joined the 1991 compared to us being a charter school when the conference was founded in 1953. Yet chuckleheads on this board mock these programs all the time, especially UNC. One of the other programs ahead of us in championships is NC State. Another target of wise guys on this board.

I’m not happy about it and it pisses me off the way our AD is run while the admin tries to BS us into thanking best is standard for all athletics at Clemson! Only an idiot would believe that!

The frustrating and sad thing is a lot of people on this board and a lot of Clemson fans don’t care as long as we win in football. As an alum I want us to be excellent in everything! Or at least try!

I get your point, and don’t necessarily disagree, but:

Varsity teams:
Stanford - 36
UNC - 28
FSU - 20
Clemson - 17

One: until rather recently we competed in a lot more sports.

Two: you’re actually kind of proving my point for me. With less teams that means we can focus more and invest more in those teams. Those other schools are funding more than twice as many teams and competing an extremely high level!

This is unacceptable! If we’re going to keep cutting teams yet every year the athletic budget gets bigger then we need to be better at the sports we are competing in! Our budget has grown exponentially over the last 20 years while cutting programs, which means the sports we still compete in should be better funded and more emphasis on winning!

You are talking about overall Championships not baseball alone. Some of the schools that you mention play sports that Clemson does not (i.e. Lacrosse, fencing, rowing, etc). So you cannot base Championships earn mutually between Clemson and other schools.

You’re making excuses! And it’s a total BS point! If we compete in less sports despite having a huge athletic budget then sports we do compete in we should be more competitive.

Your point is one of those things that looks logical and sounds good on the surface, until you do the slightest bit of research and find out it’s totally moot and irrelevant!

If look up ACC championships and national championships it’s not because they have twice as many teams. The overwhelming majority of their championships are in a handful of sports. It’s not like UNC has an equal number of championships in all their sports. The vast overwhelming majority of their championships are concentrated in a handful of programs. So it makes your point about them having more teams irrelevant.

Furthermore, it doesn’t matter how many teams we field. If we are serious about baseball, soccer, golf, basketball, etc. and had a commitment to win in those sports like we do football, like other schools do in multiple programs, we would have more championships! But we don’t have that commitment. Good God we didn’t even have that commitment in football between the Danny Ford years and Dabo. Max Lennon nor Barker had any desire to be successful in athletics!

Clemson is a smaller school, and yes, we don’t have the variety of athletics that bigger schools do. With that, the AD should be able to put more money and resources into the present programs to make them competitive and successful. Obviously, from Drad, the BOT, and fans, we have all put everything into the success of football, which has been phenomenal.
It is frustrating to see so much money and expectations be placed on football where Best is the Standard, but much less is expected of other sports such as basketball and baseball. It’s sad that alum, fans, and even DRad almost have an apathy or indifference towards them.

Not surprised by this outcome. I also, do not see Bubba Chandler wanting coming to Clemson to play football and be part of this mess of a baseball team either.

Time to make a change before he runs this program in the ground. His best seasons were with Leggett’s players. The line in the sand is the post season, we never should have hired a former coot. Uncle Ray even fired his buddy Holbrook after not making the post season, it’s time.
