TNET: Swinney updates injury status of Will Shipley

Swinney updates injury status of Will Shipley

Clemson had a bunch of serious-looking injuries during the double-overtime loss to North Carolina State as Will Shipley, James Skalski, and Brian Bresee went down with injuries during the contest. Swinney talked to the media during his Sunday teleconference and had some good news to share. "We did g Read Update »

I have a thought and I’d really like some comments on it. Back in the 50’s Clemson had two QB’s who each had a “squad” of their own 10 players : L. Shingler and H. White. We’ve wasted an abundance of talent and seen good players who aren’t getting playing time go to the portal and start for other teams. Why not give DJ and Taison each a squad, no first or second team designation, and rotate them in and out, not necessarily alternating, depending on who is being successful. It would make it harder for opponents to prepare for a given QB and would give some players who are riding the bench a chance to show their metal. What could it hurt? Nothing else has worked. I may have my players confused, but somewhere back in that earlier time we played LSU in the SugarcBowl with Billy Cannon at QB. We were supposed to get run out. We lost 7-0 on either a fumble or interception. I’m not sure the two platoon approach and the Sugar Bowl appearance were connected. I was young then. We’ve got to try something else.

Yes, we got who we got. However, even from a over 50-year fan and graduate, and my blood runs orange, we simply got beat Saturday. We lost all stats - running yards, passing yards, total first downs, time of possession, etc. So quit with the ensures, and just know we got run over. If our defense is so great, how did we let NCState get four touchdowns? If we don't have proper back-ups during injuries, whose fault is that? I'm sorry and mad, but Dabo, WE JUST LOST the whole game. Admit it, and make some changes soon. This year we won't make the playoffs, but be ready next year, please!

WE lost but gaining 15 yards in the 3rd quarter, no first downs, added to the first two quarters, put huge stress on our defense. Missing multiple key players did not help with depth. The D may have been dragging by the end of the game, but they did not show it by a lack of effort. On the other hand, we did not stop NC State in the OT.

One item, I watched that call for holding against Clemson in the end zone in the first OT, and I never saw it? Did anyone else? That would have left NC State with a 4th down, instead of a first down on the goal line. To me, that was the key (BAD) call of the game. I would like to see the penalty?
It got called and we have to live with it, we should not have been in OT.....

Very interesting. Compared to what “we got”, I don’t disagree.

Problem is that it’s way too creative for TE to even entertain.

Lyn J made his choice, I think he thought he was entitled to the starting job.
Spiller and Elliot must have had a different opinion.
If he was still on the team, he would probably be the featured back this week.
I don't think they ran him off, but I may be wrong?

He was averaging the most YPC by far on the roster. That’s not starter material in an insane offense.

Well, players were already getting thrown under the Elliott bus. What’s a few more?

C'mon Dabo! "We got who we got" As great a coach as he is, he still lays out a Forest Gump quote every so often. I don't think I'd feel great with that comment
