Agree. Guess 4 mil+ is too hard to pass on. Obviously he didn't want the college experience as much as he said. Bye, once a signee, never a Tiger.

The Rangers gave Porter the equivalent of a first-round signing bonus which ensured his agreeing to a contract.

Oh well...Coach Bakich is doing an excellent job assembling a nice group of players for Tiger baseball.

He can get the college experience after his playing days wrap up.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

I certainly don’t blame him, but it would have been great to have him.

You sound like you need to relax more.

One of several reasons why I just don’t enjoy college baseball.***

After you pay taxes, agents, strength coaches and others 4 million doesn't go far especially if it takes you years to work your way up. But then again hard to blame high school players when the NCAA has screwed them.

4 million plus medical, if done properly, is essentially a 40 year career. A solid investment in real estate and building of an IRA and even without making it to a second contract and he could retire. I'm not saying that is his ideal outcome but I'm sure there are many looking back who wish they could have signed up for that.

I wonder why he dropped to the 4th round if he was the 7th

Jul 22, 2022, 7:57 AM

WHAT YOU GLASS HALF EMPTY PEOPLE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT IS THAT WE KEPT TRISTAN SMITH, ANOTHER VERY HIGHLY RATED GUY THAT WAS PROJECTED VERY HIGH IN THE DRAFT. PORTER WOULD HAVE BEEN SOME NICE GRAVY.
