That’s funny right there. Seems silly they didn’t allow it all season. Not sure what the difference is between screaming in the stands next to someone versus running on the field next to someone. Or tailgating with all your friends.

The difference, or at least one of them, is that the players and coaches etc are on the field.
Beyond the logical why risk it/ be safe fir the masses it is also about limiting the potential effect on the team

take the virus out of the equation, the whole idea of this is bad and needs to be eliminated.
- doesn't happen in pro leagues
- how do you restrict access until after the alma mater is played? answer: you cant
- introducing tons of exuberant fans, a good portion of whom have been drinking, into an area with angry/disappointing players from the other team can easily result in an altercation that doesnt need to happen

Plus, it's fastest way to get from West End Zone back to parking and tail gaiting.
And, would you really restrict fans from being able to rub the Rock and take pictures. As well as autographs.

The democrat fans who are afraid can stay off the field. Grown folks don’t need Clemson officials telling them how to live their lives. Meet at the law or not should be up to the individual fan

The fans have never waited to rush the field as they are ask to do, most times the fans are over the wall before the game clock expires. I know people who work the games and they tell me about the injuries they have seen from this rushing the field. Also the children who are separated from parents cause the parents run off and leave them so THE ADULTS can get the autographs. I was just talking to a police officer Saturday at the game and they shared some of their experiences with rushing the field and they hoped it would not return . No matter what you call it, gathering at the paw or what ever it is still rushing the field. I found it comical the way some criticized other schools for rushing the field after wins when Clemson does it every game win or loose.

Fans have been waiting for this all season, and there were boos every time they announce it.
This is just another reason why many Americans have moved on from this garbage.
Americans will deal with whatever "variant" will come.
If the school administration is really serious about this virus, then there's no one game that should change what they've done all season long.
Just about everywhere else, people are moving on with their lives.
This is about as silly as the White House mandating vaccines "to save lives" but allowing and incentivizing illegal migration into our country.
