TNET: Pitt coach says Panthers should have won by more in "signature win"

Pitt coach says Panthers should have won by more in "signature win"

Pittsburgh head coach Patt Narduzzi spoke to the media following his team's 27-17 victory over Clemson on Saturday. "Couldn't be prouder of our football team just going out there and playing like they did. That's a good football team that they beat today. Probably should have beat them by another 14 Read Update »

I'd say Narduzzi should act like he's been here before but I know he hasn't.

You also could have been down 21-0

Oct 23, 2021, 8:32 PM

Take the win and enjoy it.

#### I hate this season. All these guys are going to take cheap shots at us now.

Narduzzi is like school on a Saturday….. No Class

Oct 24, 2021, 11:58 AM [ in reply to You also could have been down 21-0 ]

I get it Clemson has been the team to beat for Six straight years and yes they’ve beaten up on teams during that time. During that stretch Clemson had generational talents at QB and loads of talent everywhere else. In all of those beat downs “they could’ve scored more..” if not for having class Dabo could’ve scored sixty or seventy points a game four or fove times a season but… he played the second string guys the third string guys and the walk ons. Never did Dabo run it up. Never did he take shots at teams that were struggling. Narduzzi is a whiney little weasel and his comments post game prove that once again. If the signature win of his seven year career, was a 10 point win over a Clemson team that is not ranked, that cannot score points ajd is downright awful maybe the alumni and students of Pitt deserve a bit better?? Clemson should’ve been up 21-0 midway through the second but you didn’t hear Dabo saying anything disparaging about the panthers. It’s just typical Narduzzi and it’s why it is so delicious watching him eventually fail. His signature win was really more of a gift from a god awful Clemson football team. Shipley left two TDs on the board and DJ’s imitation of Magic Johnson, with his no look shovel pass, added up to a 21 point swing. Pitt made the plays when it had to and Clemson for some odd reason just never seems to. This game could easily have been a devastating joke loss for Pitt as much as it was a win. Keep it at that Pat because the slice of humble pie is coming ajd it never tastes good

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Never liked that guy

If beating Clemson THIS year is a signature win

Oct 23, 2021, 8:50 PM

it does not say very much about you or your program. Live it up while you can Pat. You should’ve been down 21-0 in this game.

Congrats on your signature win against the worst team

Oct 23, 2021, 8:35 PM

Clemson has fielded in over a decade. And worst offense EVER.

Enjoy it.

Re: Congrats on your signature win against the worst team

I’ve been a Clemson fan since 1977, I’ve seen bad offenses. But I can’t recall a worse one. Nelon Green moved the ball better. Kyle Parker in his last season was more capable of completing a pass. And then there’s the wr’s , dropping passes they should have caught, Shipley tripping over the yardage line and DJ’s signature pick 6 . I love Dabo, but he has to realize that his offensive coordinator is not cutting it or everyone has figured out the offense. I do know that since Elliott took the reins, we went from blowing out Alabama to two years of embarrassing losses in the playoffs and now, we can’t score 21 points against weak division 1 teams. I think a lot of Elliott, as a player and a Man. But perhaps we should call up coach Morris and do the co offensive coordinator thing again. He needs a voice in his ear. Scott was an elite coordinator. Elliott is not. But with help. We could beat ACC teams. That’s the most embarrassing part . We’re not loosing to Alabama, Ohio state or other top programs. We are being beat by the ACC middle of the road teams that struggle to beat bottom feeder teams in other conferences. If Pitt faced UGA, Alabama or Oklahoma for that matter? They would get throttled. This season isn’t a disappointment , it’s not a storm. It’s an embarrassment to Clemson fans. It feels like the whole team and coaching staff is retired on active duty. Every game feels like a big middle finger to the fans. Who have paid thousands of dollars for the best of everything for the team, and every tool that the coaching staff needs to succeed. Actually hundreds of thousands. Talk is cheap, it’s time to make difficult decisions. And to have classless teams like Pitt and NC state beating you. It’s beyond disappointing.
It’s time to hit the panic button.
GO TIGERS!!!!!

Dropping passes
Tripping over the yard line
Dropped TD pass

And the first blame you give is to the OC?? Great analysis. Geez.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It’s like no one remembers the end of Morris’s time here.

Oct 24, 2021, 10:17 AM [ in reply to Re: Congrats on your signature win against the worst team ]

No, no, and more no. Elliott is just running a seriously watered down version of Morris’s system, and neither of them have/had a plan B once opposing DC’s figured it out.

Classless thing to say because if not for lucky pick 6 and drop by Shipley Clemson probably wins by 4.

Classless move by Narduzzi. Dabo needs to put him in his place next year.

He’s such an A$$hat. Shipley trips over nothing and Pitt gets away with a PI that ends in a pick. That drive would’ve been a score. Shipley drops a sure TD so they easily could’ve been down 17-0 or 21-0 but we didn’t make the plays. They made a few more. But to say they should’ve won by more is just who he is. It sickens me that our three losses are to three of the most obnoxious coaches in D-1

I agree there were some bad calls and some no calls. I also do not like the coaches we lost too. However, just as many people are happy that Dabo is losing. Dabo isn't a fan favorite by people around the country either. The days of Bobby Bowden are done!

It could have been closer too, you bozo. One missed catch by a certain great player would have kept it closer.

Just take the win.

Re: What a wanker thing to say

He can say what he likes. The box score tells the story. They dominated the Tigers and jammed the ball right down the throat of our defense to kill the clock. The three man front was a miserable failure against the pass again and the offense was as expected. It's clearly a next year situation. We have one game left that matters and its not the tire bowl.

So if it's Pitt vs NC State, then I'll take Pitt all day. Nicer fan base as well.

That said... I want Wake to beat NC State and I'd take Wake over Pitt.

Nancy State just losing helps ease the pain. Most likely because this coach’s comments makes him just as unlikable as Dave Doormat!

beating #### FSU and Miami teams were 'signature' wins when we were moving up the mountain. I have no issue with Pitt coach's comments.

They could have scored more. We could have as well. They had better QB play, etc etc etc.

Clemson got beat. Yeah, very insightful I know. But I know there is a little Bill Parcel quote that a lot of the TNET folks like to use and in this case it is quite applicable.

Oct 24, 2021, 3:19 PM

For what they are saying was a "signature win" and the big push to have great crowd support, I saw a large number of empty seats in the stadium. Pitt must no be a real football school if they can't fill the stadium for the greatest win they've had in the last few decades.

Western Michigan should have won by more in their signature win over Pitt. lol.Maybe still a little hurt over his thrashing in the ACCCG and in DV.
