I'm with you----I don't love the attention and power give Finebaum, but it's an inherent part of Clemson culture at this point; we engage with his stories vastly more than anything else. Can't blame Tigernet or any of the other Clemson boards, sites, Twitter accounts & fan pages from taking a slice (after slice after slice after slice).
It's part of what Clemson nation is now, & I hate it & wish we could change back, even when he's not wrong.

You can't argue with any of those thoughts. Everyone assumes Notre Dame is the key and they are. When schools move to a different conference, the whole department goes unless football only conferences shake out of this mess. So what if, Stanford, a similar academic school and rival of ND joins the ACC, and Kansas, a natural rival to Duke and Carolina in basketball, brings its teams to the ACC, would Notre Dame and one of the Texas schools also join? No out of the box possibility should be overlooked but it is certain that no existing Big10 or SEC will leave their leagues.

I don't even know what he meant exacly by "squeezed out" but we're talking about a net difference of a billion dollars.
The ACC Network contract sucks, it's air-tight, & it lasts too long. Partnering somehow with the same network who does the one we're locked into doesn't just seem like a good idea, but it could ultimately be an absolute coup.
Still, I wish we could talk about it WITHOUT bringing up Paul Finebaum on Clemson sites outright, even in spite of the clicks it always gets.

Anyone not in those 2 is going to be pushed out. That’s what he means by Clemson is going to be squeezed out if they don’t make a move. You jump to one of those two conferences or you stop taking big time college football seriously. It really is that simple. And anyone that doesn’t understand that has their head up their ###.
And you people have to stop with this grand of rights and TV contracts and all of this stuff is iron clad. Co just fire coaches every day. People get divorced every day with prenuptial agreements written by lawyers that cost thousands of dollars an hour. America is the country of lawyers and litigation. There is no such thing as an ironclad contract. Again if you believe that you’re not living in reality and your head is up your ###.
David Hood has written articles where he addresses this and says that the people in the know laugh when you bring up this stuff. The only people that bring up this dumb #### is fans that are ignorant. The people in the big offices know it’s a ####### joke.

1. If there are only going to be two conferences, then they will need to expand further. Clemson will not get left behind.
2. If the Big 10 and SEC remain at 16, then two other 16 team conferences will be needed to have college football "P4". In thos case, the ACC will expand and get a bigger payout.
3. Every single team in the Big 10 and SEC have been making roughly $20million more per year than Clemson, and this has been the case for over a decade. How has that extra money made any of those teams better? It hasn't. How has that extra money helped anyone surpass Clemson? It hasn't.
Clemson has everything we need to continue as one of the most elite programs on the country. We have all the facilities and can build whatever anyone else can, and we pay our coaches more than most everyone in the country. How would more money make us or any program better at football. It won't.
We are waaay behind in annual payout from EVERY program in the Big 10 and SEC, and have been for a llog time, yet we've had a better football program than all but one of those schools.
You people freaking out over money are funny. First of all college football won't survive with two 16 team superconferences when everyone else has a different model. Second, we make a very, very healthy revenue, but the huge difference in our money vs every single program in the Big 10 and SEC have not elevated their positions AT ALL, and last but most importantly, third, it's about a seat at the new table. There's no possible way one of the top 15 programs of all time and the 2nd best program in the modern era won't get a seat.
And too, how are the billionaires helping anyone win football games. You do realize it's just a matter of time before the NIL is fixed and you can't buy players. There's a reason Dabo and Saban said football can survive with the NIL as-is. Regardless, the NIL and TV contracts have nothing to do with each other, and you obviously got them confused together.
If you reply, please address these points but please try to be less of a jack ###. Thank you.

The SEC and BIG are the only conferences with solid foundations for the future, nobody is leaving either of these conferences. It will be interesting to see what the PAC, Big !2 and ACC look like in the next year or so because I am certain that not all three will exist. The current landscape of college athletics makes me want to vomit. Continuous realignment, transfer free agency, killing the historic regional flare that made college athletics special, etc, etc, etc.

We need to face the probable truth. Notre Dame is going to stay an independent in football. Only reason they did 1 year on ACC in football was covid. No conference affiliation in football meant they only played 3-4 games. They are NOT going to share that big contract money that they get from NBC with anyone. I personally would like to see Clemson bail on the ACC and go to another Conference whether it's the SEC or the BIG.

I don’t like to give props to Finebaum but this time I think he’s right. Five years from now even Dabo won’t be enough of a magician to compete on the recruiting trail against schools taking in three times the money Clemson is. Plus those schools will be able to tell recruits that the national championship is certain to be won by a member of one of the “super conferences.”

Each and every SEC and Big 10 school have brought in about $200,000,000 than Clemson in the last decade. How has that helped any of them play football? It hasn't. How has that $200 million helped any of them (except one) be as good as Clemson. It hasn't.

Yes, I have to agree - he is not that far off this time but the problem is that the CFP is not run by the NCAA so they can indeed change the rules pretty much any way they want - whoever "they" is. The rumors about the Big 12 some time ago were just that and never had any credence at all in terms of actually happening. Times are different now and again, with TV running the show who knows. I still think the best deal for all would be to do like Notre Dame and separate out football and keep the regional athletic system in place for all other sports and for the Conferences. Keep in mind the "Conferences" are not about football, they are about all sports, academics and multiple other programs. How many people know or understand that the University of Chicago is a valuable and long-standing member of the Big 10 but has not competed at that level in athletics for decades.
Let's just give in and manage the big dog, aka football separately.
