But is that what's being said about Nick Saban and Bama with two losses, of course not, being bias towards Bama and Saban is not allowed!!! That must be why Bama's 1 point win over Texass, of a 4 point Texass A&M just isn't talked about, but every close game that Dabo and Clemson has had is their favorite song to sing!!!

Re: TNET: Paul Finebaum believes 'Dabo's dynasty' is done

Nov 8, 2022, 3:48 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Paul Finebaum believes 'Dabo's dynasty' is done ]

I cannot say that I disagree with this. The product on the field has not been very good offensively and the defense has been good but not near what it should be. If we were handling our business and this happens, you can say it was a fluke. This is not the case. This team has been flawed all year. Much of it falls on the offensive coaching and scheme.

I will pull for my Tigers if they are 3-9, but I do believe Dabo is at a crossroad. There may not be anything we can do with the NIL and being a smaller school with not allot of NIL money from big donors. Unless CFB decides to get the corruption out of the game.

The transfer game will need to be played. Really could have used a dynamic running QB this year and a difference maker at WR.

DJ is not the answer and I am not a DJ hater. I was really pulling for him to turn it around. He is just not a good QB. That being said, he has to be the best we got and Cade is just not ready for prime time. Otherwise the switch would have taken place.

Turn the page to next year and I am really concerned. So yes I think our run of what we have seen the last 10 years is over without some major changes in the coaching staff.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

DJ is not the answer but…

Nov 8, 2022, 7:13 PM

It’s not because he’s a bad QB. He’s just not the correct QB for the system Dabo wants to run. But the issues with this team go way beyond DJ’s limitations.

This whole offense is based on having a generational type QB and an elite running back. I like Shipley but he’s not ETN. We’ve run basically same 3 or 4 plays since Trevor was a freshman. I thought there would be some changes with Streeter but so far it hasn’t happened.

And the defense has been ok but not great. They’ve bailed us out, but mostly because we’ve got better talent. But Goodwin was handed the keys to a Ferrari and so far it hasn’t gotten out of first gear.

Finebaum is right about one thing, time will tell whether this staff is the answer or not.

Re: TNET: Paul Finebaum believes 'Dabo's dynasty' is done

Nov 8, 2022, 10:51 AM

I guess it depends on your definition of dynasty. If the expectation is that we can make another six in a row of CFB playoffs that only include 4 teams then yes, I would probably agree with him that those days are behind us for now. Do I think we could get on a roll when the playoffs extend to 12 teams then yes, I think that is possible for the future?

To me, it all comes down to recruiting as to whether or not a dynasty re-forms and continues. We have to do better at recruiting OL/RB/WR/DB/LB and getting a good QB in the pipeline each year. We seem to finish Top 3 for a lot of top talent each year and we need to figure out how to win some of those battles more often.

I still think we will continue to be consistent and competitive in the Dabo era but maintaining elite status will be challenging without some needed changes.

Better recruiting is key. But FYI: Clemson does not regularly finish top-3 in recruiting. According to the 247 composite, in reverse chronological order we've finished, 10, 5, 3, 10, 7.

Who cares what a SEC talking head thinks! I have been a die hard Clemson for over 50 years, and some things NEVER change! That includes this anti-Clemson know it all and Lee Corso. Last time I checked, 8 f& 1 was better than “pretty good”! Just because Clemson & Alabama have lost a game or 2 does not mean the sky is falling. Only a handful of colleges have as many wins this year as either of them and no one else has as many college playoff appearances as these two.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Paul Finebaum believes 'Dabo's dynasty' is done

Nov 8, 2022, 4:01 PM

The difference is that you’re looking at the past for your justification if their dynasty stays whereas Paul was looking at the future.

You could cite Dabo’s record since 2015 for 5 more years and it would still be elite even if we never finish in the Top 5 again. These are lagging indicators whereas recruiting and NIL are leading indicators

Nov 8, 2022, 11:40 AM

He's simply stating what some Clemson fans know, what many Clemson fans were hoping wasn't going to come out.....and what all Clemson have learned (the hard way) - - that Dabo doesn't always make the best personnel decisions - and that his blind loyalty doesn't result in what the fans want from a $100-million dollar coach.

WINS.

Also, Dabo needs to seriously re-evaluate his "best is the standard" mantra when that's CLEARLY not the case (or either his QB coach can't put any talent on the field.

Paul never missed an opportunity to slam Clemson. Clemson and Dabo have been finished several times according to Finebaum. He also is saying the same about Saban. Now that NIL is failing miserably, Clemson will bounce back. Three Tigers need to tweak a few things and they'll be back. I believe they are too trusting in DJU which makes the defense looks as if they aren't effective. The offense must be productive to protect the defense. This defense is awesome however, if you're always on the field and constantly defending a short field, your effectiveness will eventually fail. No changes are needed on defense; Goodwin is doing very well. Streeter is the second coming of Elliot.

Some of you guys need to take a chill pill. Incredibly short sited takes. Dabo is one of the winningest active coaches, has national championships, conference championships, and develops players incredibly well. Dabo built Clemson to its current status slowly and on solid foundation.

Is the man perfect? Nope. Never will be. Only Jesus is perfect. However, he's a level 5 leader and leads the Tigers with integrity and consistency. I hope to be half the leader that Dabo is one day. He owns mistakes, and completely put the ND loss on his shoulders, as a good leader should.

I remember when we lost to Pitt (I was at the game), and I thought our season was over, and yet, we went on to win the Natty. Are we going to the CFP? No idea. Are we a national championship team? Doesn't seem like it right now. But, if there's one thing I've learned, it's not to doubt Dabo and the Tigers.

With all that said, Go Tigers!

Peter walked on water too as long as he keep his eyes focused on the right thing then the moment he lost focus he started to sink. The cool thing is, he did get back up again so it's not over for us yet

Crump® & B-Meist®, why post this crap on Tigernet? If I wanted to know what Finebaum thought, I'd watch his crapshow, which I don't.

He's a popular commentator so a lot of people do want to know what he is saying to his audience about Clemson.
