No. 1-ranked WR has Clemson in top schools

The nation's No. 1-rated receiver has Clemson in his top schools. American Heritage (Fla.)'s Brandon Inniss, who made a stop on campus earlier this month, included Clemson in a top-10 Saturday with Southern Cal, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Florida, Ole Miss, Miami and Florida St Read Update »

I always get a little bit of a chuckle out of articles like this. Everyone grows up with a favorite school, a favorite team. At most a kid may grow up liking maybe three teams. So when I hear these kids talk about a top 10 list or a top 8 or a top 12 I just laugh. I can’t believe anyone would ever take that seriously. I can’t believe any kid is ever really seriously considering more than three or four schools at most.

Of course if I were a kid today, I would take all five of my official visits, because it’s fun and it’s paid for. But to seriously put out a list on Twitter that you are considering more than 3 or 4 teams strains credibility. I find it hard to believe.

I think kids do this because it makes the schools chase them and work harder to recruit them. It’s narcissistic! It’s just another sad commentary on today’s society!

It's never "sad" when a highly regarded HSFB prospect mentions schools who are interested in signing him to play for their program. Or, am I missing something....?

Go Tigers!!!

You are missing something. You’re getting it backwards. He’s not saying these schools are interested in me. Kids this good have 50 or 60 offers. He’s saying he’s interested in a dozen different schools or 10 different schools. No kid is seriously considering 10 or 12 different schools. That’s ridiculous! Are you a fan of 10 different football teams? Of course not!

You're right on with how the recruits can form a 10-12 group when it's likely less than half are being considered. Does seem it's about the attention, but oh well, it's what society craves.

I'm with you, I think these types of lists are all about

accumulating as much swag from different schools as you can. Can't say I blame them, if the stuff is offered, I would take the schools up on it as well.
