My favorite part of remembering Martin's Drug Store was the ice cream shop and seating when we would go there after school. They welcomed us with open arms. We would walk from the elementary school to downtown after getting off the buses from Daniel High School. It was a fun time with other school mates. I am sure they served other items but I was most interested with the desserts.

What's with those cadets standing around with their blouses open, etc.? Old Citadel type uniform. This never would have happened in the 40s-50s. Martins was a fixture back then.

Growing up in Tigertown, Martin's was the place to go to . .

get a grill cheese and a cherry coke after grammar school. Since the elementary school (named Calhoun-Clemson) burn down in 1964 we used Godfrey Hall as classrooms, so walking home after school we'd stop at Martin's for an afternoon snack! Mom always wondered why I wasn't real hungry at supper!

Godfrey Hall= who was that named for? Can we yell about renaming that too?

Nothing to yell about here, the building was named for W. E. Godfrey, professor of physics, 1919–1947. Before that, Godfrey Hall was originally named the Textile Building.
