I seem to recall the Klutz' were Dan Gentry's in-laws. I believe there was a fire at the Klutz's and they never reopened. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I grew up in a house at the end of the street in front of the Clemson house. Where the new apartments are now. I remember when this restaurant burned down because the fire department sprayed our house to keep it from burning too since it was so close. Yes I agree the owners were related to Dan’s

Interesting - I found this program from 1958 (link) that

shows Kluttz's being in Anderson - so they must have moved shortly before 1958. The program itself is interesting because it has a list of rule changes implemented in college football for the 1958 season.

The Klutzz's eventually relocated to downtown Easley and were in business in the late 60's. Indeed, they were the parents of Mrs. Frances Gentry, Dan's wife.

Oh, yes! I remember Kluttz's steak house - 1952. Seniors, who could stay out till 11 PM, used to hang out there at night, drinking coffee, etc. It was a good place to meet up with friends instead of studying, ha. Can't imagine why they closed, since it was so popular.
