The $788K payout plus the $99K from his Quail Creek finish should be close to securing his PGA card for next year too.

I don't believe that is the way it works. It is all about FedExCup points. Doc earned 300 non-member FedExCup points with his second place finish. Combined with the 44 he earned back in Charlotte, he has 344 on the season. That was good enough to grant him special temporary membership for the rest of the season.

If I understand correctly, that special temporary membership allows Doc to accept an unlimited number of sponsor invitations for the remainder of the season. At the moment, he has a guaranteed spot in this week's 3M Open by finishing in the Top 10 in Detroit. Then, he has a guaranteed spot in the Open Championship two weeks later. So, for now, he does not have a guaranteed spot in the John Deere Classic, Barracuda Championship, or Wyndham Championship. Hopefully, he is either able to Monday qualify for some or all of those, or get a sponsor exemption, or earn his way in with more Top 10 finishes.

As long as he has enough non-member FedExCup points to stay equal to or above the person that finishes in the 125th spot on the official FedExCup list at the end of the Wyndham Championship, he will earn his card and play out of the Top 125 category next year.

As an FYI, even if he finishes at or above the 125 mark, he will not be eligible for the FedExCup Playoffs. The only way he can make that is to win a tournament and become an official tour member by the end of the regular season.

Should Doc not earn enough non-member FedExCup points to finish at or above the 125 mark, he would then qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour finals, where he could try to finish in the Top 25 of the finals standings to earn conditional status for next season's PGA Tour.

For reference, here is how many FedExCup points the 125th position finished with in the past couple of seasons.

2018: 383
2017: 365

One correction... If Doc finishes at or above the 125th spot on the FedExCup points list, he would play out of Category 21 next season, which is just behind the Top 125 category.

Congratulations again to Doc!!!! Bryson, it’s up to you now to take home the makenzie? Tour championship...

I would hope Doc will get an exemption to the Deere. Time for one of our Tigers to win one of these things now!!!!

Thanks Schema.

I hope he stays hot. It would be great to have a top finish there though I know it is an entirely different type golf
