60 is the best we get, HA!

Jul 29, 2022, 10:30 AM

The closest we get is 60 (& that's an OOC game & after our bye-week).

The next closest is 80. Unreal.

This schedule is a gift, including also being the only team in D1 with zero bye-week opponents. I'm ready to watch Clemson plow through this season & to celebrate it.

Be prepared because DJU can lead this team through this schedule. I know a lot of y'all want Cade, but he'll get plenty of garbage time reps & I just don't see any sincere threat against DJU on this schedule, particularly since we're going to be so run-heavy. GO TIGERS!

im going to hold out

until i see our qb play in a real game..lord i hope our offense performs better than last years

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I get that, but

Jul 29, 2022, 11:02 AM

I mean, just consider it;

We're a run-first team, with a healthy, 6'5" QB & with THIS schedule, is it really that crazy to suggest the QB doesn't even need to be close to being elite to thrive?

Now consider if he IS legitimately good again.

There is no spread in FPI as disparate as ours this year. Just something to consider.

You could have said all of those exact same things last year, except for week 1.

Maybe not, but,in case you haven't read, heard or noticed, Cade Klubnik is as close to the second coming of a DW4 type QB as he could be without actually being DW4. Cade is listed at 6'2" weigh about the same when arriving at Clemson. Cade's HS stats/number are about the same as DW4's were in HS, and it maybe that Cade played against a little better competition in Texass, than DW4 did in Georgia. Both Cade and DW4 were really known to be pretty smart HS QBs, with both being pretty close to being a starter after playing 3-4 games at the college level, working them into the college game as they say.

In the first link, you can read about who DW4 was when he entered Clemson after leaving HS early. In the second link, you can read about who Cade was when he entered Clemson after leaving HS early. The two QB's came to Clemson being close to being a starter at Clemson sometime in their freshman year. And I personally believe that if DJ falters just a little bit at any time during the 2022 season, it would be a shame not to pull DJ and throw Cade in the game just as it was done with DW4 as a true freshman.

DW4 coming to Clemson as a true freshman, and his career at Clemson, and he was thrown in the game his true freshman year with Kelly Bryant being a better QB than DJ has proved to be.

Cade Klubnik coming to Clemson as a true freshman, and Dabo, or Streeter shouldn't hesitate playing him if DJ is no better than he was last season last season

ESPiN CFB Live on Wednesday: 3 teams according to FPI

Jul 29, 2022, 10:59 AM

Bama, UGA, and OSU will win 11+ games and they did a segment on these contenders. I guess they showed too much of the Tigers last week

They have several more exciting games & a vastly closer FPI rating than our schedule, to be fair.

Bottom line, all we need to do is finish 4th. With this schedule, it seems inevitable. Go Tigers!

Undefeated

Jul 29, 2022, 2:14 PM

Use those FPI/game, I show that we are 17.4% likely to go undefeated. Where did 13.8% come from?

Based off of what they give as projected overall records (11.1 - 1.7 for us), it looks like they are including the ACC Conference Championship Game in the computation.

I personally 100% approve of this message!

Undefeated and in the CFP again (back where we belong!)

haven't looked at all the responses yet. But, I gotta believe that 92.2% is worthy of some comments.?

Here’s a scenario based on those predictions. As a few have said, we might be able to run the table on this schedule with DJ even playing mediocre at QB. Cade gets a lot of playing time when games are in hand early. Then we get to playoffs/NCG and if DJ starts slow Dabo puts puts Cade in and wins a la Saban and Tua a few years ago. Only thing that makes this scenario better is if it happens against GA again. Might help get rid of the stray dogs on this site too!

Let’s get this first game out of the way before we start trophy shopping.I bet Dabo would tell you the same thing.

The game with the Wolfpack likely will be the game of the year. You can count on Doren bringing a team into the valley that is ready to knock heads. I hope this is one of those real DV games! Played in the mid afternoon with 85,000 fans.
You better start looking for a ticket now because it will be a tough find the week of the game.

There will likely be something strange happen before or during this game. Anyone remember the “shoes game?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

which give us a 17.4% chance of going undefeated

Jul 31, 2022, 1:49 PM

according to them
