Don’t agree with this one either but good luck Van! All the best

What’s wrong with these kids? His draft number can’t be good.

They're obviously getting information from somewhere telling them where they will be drafted and that it is a good time for them to leave.Either way I wish them nothing but the best and hope they have a great career in the NFL.They'll always be remembered for all they did to make Clemson an Elite program on the field as well as off the field.

The talent behind them will help keep Clemson an elite program. Let them go with wishing them the best. Dabo is recruiting elite players so that those guys that can't wait until they are ready to go, let them go go go, Clemson will be just fine!!!!

Yea this one was a big surprise for me and so was Ray ray I def think ray got some bad advise bc I don't see him being drafted very high, he would def benifit a lot by staying another year. I do hope I'm wrong and he is a All Pro in the league bc love to see Tigers succeed beyond clemson.

If Scott and Bulwarewent undrafted, how do either one of these guys think they will be drafted. I hope all the best for them but another year would have been huge for both Smith and RRM!

Van is battle tested and been in a lot of them. Maybe he is just tired of the college life and grind.

"Pays well." If you make it. Big "if." My gut feeling is that both players could have benefited from another year's experience on the field and in the weight room. But, time will tell. I wish both the very best.

Yes. Easier not being in school.***

Good for Van. Go get that money

Jan 7, 2018, 4:25 PM

3x ACC Champ. 3x Playoff Appearance. National Champion.

Will test well at the combine. Lots of film as a starter. I see him getting picked in the 2-4th round

Baushad Breeland not doing bad for a mid round pick

You have a better chance of winning Lotto than....

Jan 7, 2018, 7:38 PM [ in reply to Good for Van. Go get that money ]

he has of being a 2nd rounder.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Safeties/DBs drafted in first 2 rounds by year:

Jan 7, 2018, 8:28 PM

2017: 9 & 19
2016: 4 & 14
2015: 4 & 12
2014: 5 & 11
2013: 5 & 14

I list DBs as well because Van might be a guy that some team sees as a CB/S hybrid player. Is he a top 6 safety in the draft? Or a top 16 DB? I’m not entirely sure yet, but I’d hardly say it’s impossible.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

5th to 7th round and maybe not drafted.

Jan 7, 2018, 11:20 PM

He is small for a safety and not blazing fast to be a corner.

He won’t be invited to the combine and he will go undrafted.

We are looking from the other side of the fence

Jan 7, 2018, 4:58 PM

We’ve seen countless players not make it in the nfl. These guys are young and they are looking at right now not down the road. They see money right now. When you’re young and have been living the college life it’s really hard to not want money and freedom.

Not sure what the dynamics are, but these two declarations are different than expected imo. In any case, best wishes to VS.

Re: TNET: Clemson safety to forego senior season

Jan 7, 2018, 8:14 PM

You have to be kidding right? These guys don't have 30 dollars in their pockets and you want them to come play for free. If they were my son, they would leave as first rounders... no one should stay with that guaranteed money in the bank. Look at CJ Spiller, he stayed and it worked out for him but he didn't do anything in the league. Good for CJ, but what if one of those lineman gives up 5 million and rips up a knee? Think if it was your son and what you would advise.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Clemson safety to forego senior season

Jan 8, 2018, 1:01 AM

Uh, CJ is a pro bowl running back who has made millions in the NFL. I love Ray Ray, but he doesn't seem ready for the NFL.

Re: TNET: Clemson safety to forego senior season

Jan 7, 2018, 8:28 PM

Very happy for these guys if their actual draft status matches the numbers they’re obviously being given. No one knows what someone’s personal situation is so I’m not going to judge. All the best to him and Ray Ray.

Based on the first 2 declarations, we’re going to be replacing a lot more early departures than I originally thought.
