Awesome! Never know who you may need to contribute in a long championship season.

I hate to say this, but if we need Rencher to contribute next year, it probably won’t be a championship season.

A team needs leaders. Darien Rencher is exactly that.

You can't look at a team, only on game days. So much more goes on behind the scenes.

I'm glad that Darien has decided to stay. It can only be a positive.

Absloutely right. Darien is a leader. His contirbutions to the team go far beyond being a backup RB. Welcome Back Darien, great decision, ALL-IN Tiger, we luv ya man !

Because he wants to, he can, he's seizing an opportunity, and why do you care it doesn't count against the 85 and he's a leader.

Also any other troll that comes at Rencher I'm hunting you.

I think that with him wanting to further his education while it's being offered, and it not costing him is the smartest choices he could have made for himself, and nobody should ever blame him for that, period!!!!

_____________________________"Edit"_________________________

Education is the best way to future success, and a comfortable life Unless, a person has won the lottery, and they have enough common sense to put their winnings in a situation that will allow them to live a comfortable lifestyle "for life"!!!

After HS I made the decision for an occupational school over an academic college education. With what I learned in the occupational trade school that I went to ( UTI/Universal Technical Institute ) gave me a really good head start in the Automotive/Diesel field as a technician/mechanic that gave me a decent living barely in the middle class income bracket at that time.

Even though back then I loved what I done for a living, and it wasn't until my body started breaking down that I realized, and have wished many, many times that I would have served myself much better if I would've went to an academic college, and became an engineer designing the things that I actually worked on in the field. When I come to realize this, it was to late for a do over, and that is my story that I try to relate to the young people that I come in contact with in my later years of my life. I have no problem with preaching that a higher education will serve them much better than a simpler/easier education!!!

Come on and take me out, dude. I too wonder WHY?

Jan 10, 2021, 10:25 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Clemson RB announces return for sixth season with Tigers ]

Lynn J, Mellusi, Dukes and Pace are our future - in 2021 and 2022-- followed by Shipley and Mafah.

Having depth is nice, but we do not typically play more than 3 RBs.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mafah just suffered an injury in the state playoffs

Jan 11, 2021, 10:10 AM

Carlos Watkins was in a serious accident his freshman year, so many things happen that depth, even for practice purposes, is needed on the team... If you don't think the 85 schollies plus walk-ons matter, then CFB just needs to follow NFL guidelines to a 53 man active roster with 7 on a practice squad...

but above all that, Rencher can make the decision and did. also, the coaches must be fine with it because he's willing to work, just like he has for the past 5 years, to earn snaps...

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He is a leader of this team....and someone I am proud to say represents our team well

Jan 11, 2021, 2:27 AM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Clemson RB announces return for sixth season with Tigers ]

He is not taking a scholarship from anyone. He has an opportunity to continue to play the game he loves and at a place he loves.

Folks just need to consider what they would do if they were in his place. Seems to me he made the best choice and one I would make if I were in his place.

I hope he's not taking away a scholarship that could be going to a good player. While I understand his off-field and leadership appeal, I would put him at the bottom of the depth chart as a runner. I would rather we just thank him for his past contributions and wish him luck in the future.

Rencher has more than earned the limited carries that he will get next year, plus he will be a bigger help to the young guys than the carries you speak of that they would lose bc of the carries that Rencher will get!!! How could you even see that being a problem with a guy that's only taking advantage of what is rightfully his to take???

Rencher has been an all in Tiger team player since coming to clemson, plus he grew up right down the road from Clemson, and dreaming all his young life about playing FB at Clemson, so why shouldn't he come back and take what he has earned. Do you say the same about Skalski, he gets to come back bc he was given the same year back by the NCAA just as Darien Rencher was!!!!

Dude loves Clemson, been a huge support for young RBs coming in, has probably zero chance in the NFL but still has another year to live his dream of playing football for Clemson, doesn't hurt the team schollie count, yet people make negative comments. Why shouldn't the young man live his dream fir another year and get free education, room, board and healthcare.

I am just shocked at anyone that could post anything negative about the young man's opportunity. Wish I had the same when I was his age. Some people need to think before they comment!!!

In complete agreement. He works on a Masters degree, provides team leadership and mentoring to the new RBs coming in. He won’t take significant carries from developing players, and he has proven to be a productive player anyhow. Win win.

Isn't is hypocritical that these same posters say that

Jan 11, 2021, 10:18 AM [ in reply to Very disappointed to see some these posts ]

recruits should be all in and not rescinding their commitment, or players who decide to transfer with eligibility left didn't want to work hard but now, a player has decided that he is ALL IN for his life should be done and over with because he's way down the depth chart?
These hypocritical posters really should look in the mirror and judge themselves because this is the kind of mindset that causes players to consider that the schools and "fans" only consider them to be commodities for use based on their ability to contribute to winning championships...

Good for him, he has sacrificed a lot more than most normal (non-athlete) students would have been willing to. A college athlete's commitment to a program is nothing like the average college students.

He can't determine how many carries he gets and in the last 6-7 years since he committed the RB talent pool improved significantly, BUTT if he can parlay his scholarship into a Master's Degree that's better than most of these "student atheletes" eventually obtain.

Only wish these athletes, including Rencher, would stop trying to use their jersey as a platform for political purposes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Social justice isn't political...

Jan 11, 2021, 11:21 PM

does human rights and human decency sound better?

I have it on a reliable source that Rencher actually ISN'T political or pushes any political agenda, but has the utmost concern for his fellow man... that's an example that everyone should be willing to emulate...
