Clemson-Georgia host confirms indoor mask policy in place for game

Fans attending the Clemson-Georgia game on Sept. 4 at Bank of America Stadium will need to have a mask to wear when going through the concourse and any indoor area before heading to outdoor seats, according to city and county mandates in the Charlotte area and Bank of America Stadium's own policy fo Read Update »

the difference between requiring that you wear a seat belt in a car and this? Government has the authority to decide what's best for the American society as a whole from a health point of view.

I'm sick of masks and wearing them - but if stuff like this will get this country over COVID that much quicker then it's no big deal. Stop talking as if one of your Bill of Rights freedoms has been taken away because it hasn't.

To be honest, I use to hate having to buckle up, and I had my seatbelts fixed to where they looked like I was using them for when I passed a cop, but, that all ended one day when I come up on an accident that just happen. The guy driving was going a bit to fast when he run up on a pretty sharp curve, and his car flipped over several times, and it threw his wife and baby out the car, and killed both of them instantly, and he walked away with just a few bumps and bruises, and probably enough guilt that I bet still haunts him today, and that was about 15-20 years ago. I have wore a seatbelt ever since, and nobody is allowed to ride with me without properly wearing a seatbelt, or they can ride with someone else, or drive their own vehicle. I hook my seatbelt now before I ever start the engine, and when I think about that accident like right now, I can still see that young girl/lady and her baby dead on the side of the road with that guy screaming Oh God please no, not my wife and son!!!! Most of the time the rules set for us to live by, were put in place for our own well being, and not bc they thought that we needed to be punished, or told what to!!!

Uh there is no difference which is why people need to push back. Government is not here to micro-manage our lives. It's amazing how many people have no idea what the Government is for. All the Government was ever suppose to do is protect your individual Rights to make sure your Rights were never infringed on, PERIOD. I love how the goal post continues to move with Covid. Cases was NEVER the measuring stick, deaths were. It's funny all you hear in the news is cases which I don't trust any ways. Science is the farthest thing that has been followed. Asymptomatic people HAVE NEVER BEEN MASS SPEADERS but all of a sudden when it's politically expedient now they are. The CDC and the WHO have both been caught lying and the WHO caught lying to cover for China. There is evidence, though antidotal, that people too many to count have had the cause of their death stated as Covid when they actually died WITH Covid not from Covid. Covid is not going anywhere. They have already talked about the next variant. They lied about who the Delta variant is getting sick. They said the unvaccinated made up over 90% of the ones getting sick from the Delta variant which is NOT true. There is strong evidence that the vaccine is making people vaccinated more susceptible to the Delta variant based on what is happening in Israel. It doesn't matter what you want to to compare with mask whether seatbelts or whatever, that doesn't change the fact that the Government is messing around with your Right to assess your own risk. Hitler took baby steps as well. Yes I will compare what this Government is doing to what Hitler did in the beginning. The only difference is there are too many freedom loving Americans who will fight to the death for that freedom so it would never get that far. That's beside the point. The point is Government continuing to overreach. Oh it's just a mask, oh it's just a passport, oh it's just forced vaccination, oh it's just discriminating against the unvaccinated. When you're willing to give that inch don't think all they're going to take is that inch. Look at what you're okay with and that's fine with you? We went to war with the British bc they taxed our sugar among other things yet here we are today can't get rid of our Rights and freedoms fast enough regardless of how big or small you think they are. I could go on for days but it would be futile bc most people have their mind made up. Just know I'm not against mask and I'm not against you wearing a mask bc I believe you can make the best decision for you but for some reason others don't give me that same respect. If you're vaccinated and masked then you are protected, right? The fact that you feel you have the right to tell me how I should feel is arrogantly ignorant.

The difference is a seat belt may actually save your life. Masks (unless they are n95 and worn properly) do nothing to protect you. It is like putting a chain link fence around your backyard to keep mosquitoes out. It is fake BS and more about control than protection from the China virus. And the reason everybody is being forced to wear them in case you haven’t heard, the vaccines don’t work much past a couple months. But you can take the mask off when you sit two feet from one and other because college football has become immune to the virus like riots and protests are.

Masks greatly lower the spread of COVID. This is beyond dispute statistically. A mask will not protect you much, unless N95, so wearing a mask is to protect others. By the way, peacetime is an incredible blessing, but it makes us tend to lose perspective on what is important. The inability of adults to wear a surgical mask while around other people to prevent the spread of a disease that has left thousands of people to die an excruciating death over two weeks on a ventilator is something my grandfathers, who served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, would find incomprehensible and infuriating. I miss them, but I am strangely relieved they don’t have to see the selfishness and lack of perspective that now passes for asserting our “freedom.”

Re: Stop this freedom talk BS because what's........

So what would gramps think about all those fine people taking those "greatly lowing the spread" devices from their faces the moment they get to their seats, which they almost all will. N95 masks greatly lower the spread, cloth and surgical masks do not. The vast majority of everyone at the game will not be wearing N95 masks, so it is just theater. You can use the greatest generation as you foil to justify your comments, but I believe most of them would be shaking their heads in disbelief at the speed people are willing to trade freedom for perceived safety.

Re: Stop this freedom talk BS because what's........

Aug 19, 2021, 8:21 PM

Your assertion that only N95s contain the spread is unsupported by science or logic. By your own logic, though, you should be wearing an N95, I suppose. Btw, they both were pretty big believers in the value of scientific observation and statistics, so I can again say that this anti mask nonsense would be simply incomprehensible.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are incorrect

Aug 20, 2021, 5:36 AM

There is very sketchy science on the efficacy of wearing a mask. There are a lot of contradictory studies. I have actually seen videos on YouTube of real live mask testing by experts that show some effect but it is far from perfect. It all depends on how close you are to someone, how much air volume there is, and how long you are around them. It’s not simply wearing the mask.

Furthermore, only a surgical mask, a true surgical mask, that is tight fitting or an N 95 mask that is properly sized will do anything. A cotton mask and those bandanna things that a lot of people wear, like the coaches last year, do absolutely zero. The virus will go right through those things.

Doctors wear a mask during surgery and around people because of germs and bacteria. A virus is a totally different animal. Go read Dr. Fauci‘s emails. He even talked about the limited efficacy of mask wearing.

And I think most people of the World War II generation would tell the government to kiss their ### over a mask or vaccine mandate. They absolutely would not go for mandatory lockdowns and telling people they can’t open their business when Costco and CVS are allowed to be open and they would’ve had weddings, funerals, and church services.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are not very well informed.

Aug 20, 2021, 5:23 AM [ in reply to Stop this freedom talk BS because what's........ ]

Compliant people like you make it easy for governments to be fascist.

The science on wearing a mask is sketchy. And that assumes you’re wearing a surgical mask or an N 95 mask. Anything else and it’s nothing but theater. You do understand that correct? That a cotton mask and those things that the coaches wore last year around their neck that they pull over their face those do absolutely nothing! The only mask that has any efficacy whatsoever is a true surgical mask or a N 95 mask and even they only have limited efficacy in the right situations.

This is 100% pure theater and government wanting to exercise power and control over people. Because it is #### sure not science-based policy.

And my first question is always how are they defining a case. Because if you understand a PCR test you know that a positive test absent symptoms has a very high likelihood of being a false positive!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Analogies like that are so dumb.

Aug 20, 2021, 5:27 AM [ in reply to Stop this freedom talk BS because what's........ ]

You are harming no one but yourself by not wearing a seatbelt. And it’s extremely difficult to tell if someone is or is not wearing a seatbelt.

Millions of people don’t wear seatbelts nor do they wear a helmet riding a motorcycle.

I have seen some excellent videos on the fact that people rarely wear a helmet on an E bike or a regular bicycle yet you have a greater risk of accident or injury on an E bike and a bicycle than a motorcycle. Further evidence that policy makers don’t actually follow science and data.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Analogies like that are so dumb.

Aug 20, 2021, 7:22 AM

That’s patently false, the economic burden of the living is greatly reduced with use of seatbelts. Everyone benefits when you wear it. And who do you think started the wave of seat belt laws we currently live with. Ronald Reagan. Sounds to me like you think Reagan was a fascist.

Your problem is that even if someone took the time to teach you regressive modeling and time series analysis and then gave you the data set so you could come to your own conclusion and see that seat belts and masks are positive forces in the community. You would just take the next step and say the data is corrupt.

The problem is that you are foolish. And unfortunately modern technology has allowed the foolish years of breeding in online communities severe your foolishness was congratulated and encouraged.

Go watch videos of flat earth believers. That’s you right now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bless your heart!

Aug 20, 2021, 12:32 PM

First, life is risk. I hate to break it to you but life is about risk.

Second, people have the right to make their own choices.

Third, I love Reagan. He was a great president. That doesn’t mean I agree with everything he did. At times he caved to pressure from special interest groups even when it went against his principles.

I’ll give you a perfect example, mothers against drunk driving. The drinking age never should’ve been pushed from 18 to 21. If you can vote and die for your country you should be able to drink a beer. You can do everything else at 18 but you can’t have a beer? That’s BS!

But what I really hate about what he did was he went against everything he believes in because he believed in federalism which is the states being independent being sovereign and having most of the power per the Constitution…. But when it came to the drinking age issue, which is absolutely a states’ rights issue, Reagan bullied the states by withholding federal highway funds from the national gas tax not a federal issue. But what he did was hold back gas tax.

Reagan did a few things that were authoritarian like the drinking age and people were livid. It was a gross overreach by the government and conservatives, libertarians and fans of Reagan were bitterly disappointed and felt betrayed because it absolutely win against everything Reagan always said he believed in and typically defended.

As far as you whining like a little girl that it affects all of society. I don’t care. I have the right to live my life the way I want to live my life.

FYI I am alive today because I was in a car accident in high school and was not wearing my seatbelt. Although that was the early 80s and at that time most people did not wear seatbelts. Had I been wearing a seatbelt I would’ve died.

This is just like with Covid. People on here crying like little girls because of people dying from Covid. Like you people really care about society and strangers. I feel for families that have dealt with Covid and that have had family members die. But I’m sorry anyone that gets choked up over strangers dying might want to get some emotional help. They might want to get some counseling. Because that’s not natural.

Have you ever looked at the statistics for the top 20 annual causes of death in America?

If you had you would know that car accidents are statistically insignificant.

Each year more Americans die from suicide, the seasonal flu, drug overdose, and many other things than auto accidents. And suicide and drug addiction in particular are far more devastating to families and society than auto accidents.

But all of those things combined ate s tiny fraction of annual deaths in America. Do you know what the two leading causes of death are? And I’m talking the two leading causes by a country mile year after year after year. More than everything else combined and then multiplied by a factor of 10???

Heart conditions and cancer.

And unlike accidents and most of the other causes of death heart disease and cancer are largely preventable. The primary cause of almost all cardiac issues and cancer is diet and lifestyle. Those things can be changed. And the sad thing is government policies have a massive effect on peoples’ diets. The food pyramid is upside down and has dictated policy over the last 40 to 50 years and it has been devastating to the health of Americans.

Do you know why since the 80s processed foods have skyrocketed and few people actually eat food that was grown or raised within 100 miles of their house? Government policies. And when one of these huge food processors has some type of serious issue it wipes out food for days or weeks in entire chunks of the nation. Right now food shortages because of Covid would not be a thing if we still got most of what we ate locally like we did 40 and 50 years ago. Why did that change? Government policies!

Not only does our diet and lifestyle lead directly to the leading causes of death in America, but they have caused an epidemic of metabolic syndrome, which includes high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes. Guess what? 80% of the people that have died from Covid died because of those complications a.k.a. comorbidities. Had Covid hit in the 60s, 70s, or 80s it barely would’ve made an impact because people were much healthier then. Get on YouTube and watch American bandstand or soul train from the 70s and 80s and look at how skinny everyone was. How healthy everyone was. Go look at an annual from a high school graduation from the 70s and 80s and look at how skinny everyone was.

Go look at the government mandated lunch programs for children in public schools. My God talk about causing obesity and diabetes in children.

Not only does these irrational unscientific crony capitalism policies governing food and agriculture in America play heavily into the obesity and diabetes epidemics but poor health because of diet and lifestyle are a big part of the massive inflation in healthcare costs over the last 40 years.

So please don’t whine or preach to me about People’s rights and choices that have minimal impact on society while ignoring the things that literally kill the vast majority of Americans every year and it’s due to behavior promoted by the government and their policies.

You can say well diet and lifestyle is a choice. To a certain degree that is correct. But it is government policies that have led to high fructose corn syrup being in almost everything. It is government policies that is lead to food being consolidated and not ground locally. It is government policy that has led directly to so much more food that is processed and includes anabiotic‘s and growth hormones that cause little girls to get their ##### and periods much earlier which is not healthy. And the fact that our diets have gone from mostly healthy vegetables and mostly meat to far more processed foods and processed carbohydrates Per the food pyramid which is hammered into children’s heads from a young age in school. Therefore the government is via policy educating and shaping the American diet and brainwashing people to eat an extremely unhealthy diet that is in fact the leading killer in America and the largest factor in runaway inflation in healthcare.

So if you want to get upset about a policy that is killing people do your homework on this and go to Amazon and watch the documentary “Fat Fiction”.

A shot where it has been confirmed that vaxed folks are still getting and spreading the virus (flu) and getting sick? A shot that they now say wears off in the first few months, so I'll need even more shots! A shot where thousands of people have had negative reactions and died! That shot?
At my age and good health I have a 0.001% of dying from this flu bug, yet I'm supposed to shoot a fluid into my body where I have no idea what its health effects may be down the road simply because the government says so?? No thanks, I guess I'll just be the ignorant one!

When the Biden admin can do the one thing they were sworn in to do which is to defend our borders then a small bit of credibility may be given to what they know about Covid. Government knows nothing but regulations. If you want to wear a mask if it makes you feel better go for it, but to mandate it on the masses is asinine. You can blow cigarette smoke out of most of these masks. Pretty sure by just straight out common sense it’s not keeping Covid particles from coming through. If you wear a mask and I don’t then there is nothing for you to worry about. In your mind you are protected. Government knows nothing about healthcare and relies on the CDC which has been all over the place.
