Shutting out the gamecocks? That’s part of his job as a DC! He’s well deserving of this opportunity but he should have least acknowledged Dabo for his hire! Well wishes to him and his family…

The comments were from his initial statements to the Oklahoma people.

You, and the other low pulse posters, are disgraceful. BV has been a beloved coach at Clemson, but real fans are sad to see him go, and we wish him well.
If you are going to spew crap about BV, please join another fan base. You are not welcome at Clemson, where Clemson Gentlemen show class and don't spew hatred.

Hate to see him leave, but I wish him well. He had been the best assistant we have ever had by far imo. Some here wanted a coordinator gone, but I dare say he definitely wasn't it. I do wonder what this means for some of our recruits with this development.

BV is a detail and perfection focused guy, I hope his coordinators are up to the challenge. God bless him and the best of luck to him and his family. Btw, I believe luck is 90% of success as we measure it, as long as the right pieces are in place. Good luck, coach!
Personally, I'm focused on Iowa State right now....
Go Tigers!!!

They had Bill Snyder in on it as well. Sounds like they had pull out all the stops to get him to go to OU.

Clemson QB Jimmy Greenbeans has entered the transfer portal.
Oklahoma is the expected destination for the former 5?

Will miss him on the sidelines. Sure would not want to be his DC. Can’t picture BV giving up much control of the defense.

Sounds like a statement written by a PR person. But its still a little weak not to say a line of thanks to Clemson. Really hyping OU & SEC is a low key diss on Clemson & SEC. Imo.

Gonna miss Brent and his enthusiasm. I wonder if he will need a get back coach at OU? Hopefully he will mellow out and do well…until he plays the Tigers!

Y’all need to stop trying to find crap where there isn’t any. Have you never changed jobs? The worst thing you can do once you’ve made the decision is look back. He also said it was meant to be and the tone sounded to me like he was still trying to convince himself.

To be honest every video of him since he took the job looks like he is elated. Kind of like he worked here for nearly a decade and has now been set free. Maybe that’s just the difference of finally being the guy in charge but really it seems like it has more to do with he’s back at Oklahoma and can show his emotions for his school.

Y’all need to keep in mind the bag of money he just got. Like Tosh said, “money doesn’t buy happiness l, but I’ve never seen anyone frowning on a jet ski”. Venables just got paid!! I’d be ear to ear, too.
He’s happy because he gambled on Auburn last year, and gambled on K State too because he’s been waiting and working for the pay off. Now he just got double what auburn would’ve offered and quadruple what Kstate would have offered, and now he gets to ride back into Norman with the sheriffs badge on after they ran him out.
Also Norman is where he started his family.
Internet must’ve killed empathy because it ain’t that hard to figure out why he’s excited and why it’s not even close to being an insult for Clemson.

Yeah, I mean you can’t expect a guy that just got hired for possibly his dream job, and boat loads of money, to be looking back all sad and mooning over his former employer. I believe in his official remarks, he will have good things to say about Clemson, but now he must be “ALL IN” at OU.

The REAL important question
Dec 6, 2021, 9:44 AM
|
|
That nobody has answered yet is: how do we replace Jimmy Greenbeans? He was a 10-star recruit, a real coach on the field type of guy, of legendary status matched only by the likes of Hunter Renfrow and Daniel Rodriguez.

happy for BV,.. but, the way they (coaches in general, not just BV) can flip the loyalty switch from one program to another is a little nauseating.

For coaches, it's a business
Dec 6, 2021, 12:02 PM
|
|
Please keep in mind, that while fans love their team first - and forever - to most coaches, this is a business and you have loyalty to the company while you work there.
I have no doubt that Brent has respect for Clemson and the players, but his first allegiance is to his new employer.
I've had many jobs over the last 40 years and once I leave one opportunity for another, my loyalty goes with me to my new employer.
Sure, I'll provide any information needed if my former employer calls and asks a few questions about work-related issues in the first month or so, but after that, I'm dialed in to my new employer .. until the next opportunity comes along.
As for my Tigers ... they are IT ... no changing loyalty whether the team is up or down. In Brasil they have a saying, "There are two things you can't change .. your team, and your Mother!"
GO TIGERS!!

Here is the lesson for those who cry when we critique our coaches (more Elliot than Venables) but this shows after raining money on them for years its a business and their main concern is money and power Just like any business It also shows that paying assistants barrels of money doesnt buy loyalty Good luck to him but from Don Capers to Manny Diaz there are boatloads of great D guys that werent great coaches but he is set for life anyway

I think the Oklahoma fans are a little premature.Yes..he is a great DC..but, ALL of those 10 win seasons belong to Dabo. Ask Brad Scott or his son Jeff. Being a coach is MILES from being a coordinator. A lot of times, it just doesn’t work. We shall see.
