I'm sure his agent can work out an NFL contract where he can only play 12 games per season.

Additionally, the NCAA should pass a regulation stipulating that the all SEC teams should limit schedules to 10 games with a maximum of 5 conference games. The SEC championship game will played prior to Thanksgiving.
In addition, all SEC teams selected to the Final 4 will be allowed to feast on unlimited quantities ostarine between Thanksgiving and the commencement of the playoffs.

Lol see what had happened was I slipped and broke my toe maybe then when the game started people was sad I broke my toe and then we scored 16 points because coach Saban can heal broken toes for a quarter cause he’s a good coach then we just got outscored by almost 40 points cause the crimson tide wasn’t a stampede of elephants it was just a baby elephant the tiger ate for dinner

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

Jan 31, 2019, 10:52 AM

Jacobs is probably correct. Weak minds tire much quicker than strong minds, and he is unconsciously admitting he and his teammates are not very smart.

Physical fatigue likely did play a role, and Clemson had the best conditioned team I saw all year. Clemson players don't have spare tires around their bellies like Bama, Georgia, SC, Louisville, and players for most other teams. They aren't blowing air by the end of the first quarter either.

Good conditioning, plus Dabo's wise substitution practices, paid off in the long season.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is such BS - our players had just as much reason.......

Oct 2, 2021, 4:19 PM

to have "mental fatigue" but they didn't. Just another example of Alabama making excuses instead of manning-up and admitting they got beat by a better prepared team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The truth in what he said is this: The team was worn down.

Jan 31, 2019, 10:36 AM

Heck, Tua was worn down and injured halfway through the season.

But Saban just whips his horses to the finish line. This year he didn't have the depth to do that and then face a team like CLEMSON.

Dabo and BV on the other hand are willing to sacrifice individual accolades like Heimans and such in order to develop depth (like frikkin' rows of sharks teeth on the DL this year) that buffers against injury and trumped up doping charges.

It was chess and checkers out there this year.

Saban has been surpassed.

I honestly do NOT expect Bama to make it to the CFP in the 2019 season. They have been exposed. The SEC will no longer fear them. They are in for some losses.

Re: The truth in what he said is this: The team was worn down.

Jan 31, 2019, 12:25 PM

First of all, betting against Saban in the SEC is a good way to lose money.

That being said, if it is EVER going to be UGA's year, 2019 is that year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jan 31, 2019, 4:49 PM [ in reply to The truth in what he said is this: The team was worn down. ]

I think you're right, and I've heard a number of Bama fans (out in Santa Clara) say the same thing. A couple told me after the game, "Clemson will be back next year, but I don't think "we" will."

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

Jan 31, 2019, 10:48 AM

I think the Bama RB makes a valid point. It can be very mentally fatiguing (definitely not so much PHYSICALLY fatiguing) to play a schedule where your starters never play the 4th quarter...and seldom much past half time. Just the fatigue of staying awake on the sidelines.....it was a Herculean effort on their part.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

Jan 31, 2019, 12:57 PM

Throw him in to the re-cycle bin. He has believe the same stupid premise that the regular media and SEC have been indoctrinated (brainwashed) with. It doesn't take a lot of smarts to follow this belief or premise, you can just throw your hat in there and the delusional believers accept you as knowledgeable. It hides your real ignorance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This isn't new information

Jan 31, 2019, 10:50 AM

What he means is they were more fatigued than Clemson. What that means is that Clemson was mentally stronger. That is part of being a better team. This isn't news.

These aren't excuses. They are reasons Clemson is better.
Better game plan = better team
Simple, well executed game plan = better team
Taking advantage of mistakes = better team
More depth = better team

These are the various sides of the same coin.

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

Jan 31, 2019, 11:36 AM

Every Alabama excuse only insults their own program. They’re trying so hard to make the loss about themselves and ignore anything Clemson did that they’re accumulating a very long list of problems that they supposedly have to overcome. The machine has worked so well for so long, does anyone actually believe that it’s broken?

Saban needed to get a handle on this early and give his guys talking points. When answering questions about “what went wrong?” there should be one answer and nothing more: “We got beat in just one game this season; but we have the talent and the depth to be back next year, and we intend to do so.” That’s it. Any other words are just detrimental to your goals.

I think we gave adequate credit to Alabama after Phoenix and definitely after the Sugar Bowl. But in turn they’ve refused to acknowledge the finality of defeat in Tampa; the continuation of that this year is just embarrassing

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

I don’t think the machine is broken at Bama. I think Dabo has built a better, stronger machine!!

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

Jan 31, 2019, 11:57 AM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson ]

Four of Saban's five National Championships at Alabama came with one loss. Two of Saban's best teams (2016, 2018) came up short in the Championship. One of his weaker teams (2017) won it all.

I honestly think they need to lose a game to focus the team. That's not unusual: In 2016, we needed to lose to Pitt to beat Alabama. Five years in, no #1 seed has ever won the playoffs.

Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson

Jan 31, 2019, 2:45 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Alabama RB says "mental fatigue" was reason for loss to Clemson ]

But it’s Alabama! They’re not supposed to lose like that! There has to be an excuse besides Clemson was just better that day! (Or maybe any day!).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's right

Jan 31, 2019, 11:46 AM

The advanced stats show that play-to-play, the game was every bit the evenly matched contest that was predicted.

But the score was a blowout.

The difference was that every time Clemson made a play, you could see Bama's confidence drop and their desperation increase. But every time Bama made a play, Clemson just got ready for the next play.

Bama drives down the field: Ok, whatever, you're not getting in the endzone.
Bama gets Clemson into 3rd and long: Ok, whatever, we can convert that.

No matter how many good plays they had, we weren't letting up. They weren't used to that and they weren't ready for that.

We out-toughed Alabama and that was the most satisfying part of the win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: He's right

Jan 31, 2019, 6:50 PM

This.^^ We were driven. We worked all year to get to that game. Didn't they?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

New Negative Recruiting --> The SEC makes you mentally weak

Jan 31, 2019, 1:27 PM

He read that lame take somewhere in the SECverse and it made him feel better about getting beat, plain and simple. If he traces the implications of his logic through, he would immediately backpedal out of it to avoid looking weak to NFL GMs.

With that said, if you put even a little stock in team recruiting rankings/classes to determine who played against better competition, when discussing the ease of getting into the CFP, I would say that Clemson had/has an easier path than Bama to punch their ticket to the CFP. Taking that point, and conveniently saying that prior games played by the other team, "with an easier schedule", had an outcome on the results of the Natty --> GARBAGE. What about the saying, "iron sharpens iron" (The common SEC recruiting pitch)? I thought teams/players improved by playing tougher competition? You can't have it both ways. Or should we start a negative recruiting campaign: The SEC makes you mentally weak?

THIS IS WEAK SAUCE BS. CRY IT OUT, AND THEN GET BACK TO REALITY. CLEMSON WAS THE BETTER TEAM, AND WON THE GAME ON THE FIELD. CLEMSON --> SPECIAL "PEOPLE" (COACHES and ATHLETES), LEADERSHIP, CULTURE, PREPARATION and EXECUTION WON THE NATTY. PREPARATION INCLUDES HAVING THE RIGHT MINDSET, AND WE CLEARLY HAD IT. WE BENT, BUT SURELY DIDN'T BREAK. BAMA GOT BROKE. GO TIGERS!!

You know, it struck me when Alabama was running up big halftime scores early in the year and I read they played 45 players in the first half. And the Tigers were playing 70+ IN THE FIRST HALF, that burnout could happen to them! Now we know! Or maybe all that ranting by Saban because they were only winning by 6 TDS at the half caused them mental fatigue!

Oh! I’m sorry! They played much harder schedule! They had to leave the first team in so they could run up the big scores. They couldn’t do it with that many subs. Ole Miss is too tough!

Re: i think he's right, but for all the wrong reasons

Jan 31, 2019, 3:32 PM

Every time i re-watch the game, I'm more and more impressed with Bama's mental fatigue.

Guys who are out of position, covering the wrong receivers, throwing to the wrong jersey--the list goes on.

Then it started showing up in their poor effort--no pursuit on big plays, OL not getting off the ball, poor tackling.

Their body language said it didn't matter. And it didn't. Because anything they would have tried, Clemson would have countered. Better.

But I'm not buying "playing in the SEC with a target on our backs" garbage as an excuse for their lack of mental effort. Their 9 SEC opponents including GA only averaged 7 wins, and their non-con schedule included El Cid and 2-win Louisville. Some high schools in GA play tougher schedules than that in a 10-game season.

Apparently what 'fatigued' them was 1) playing for Saban, 2) playing with each other, 3) playing at all, and 4) being SEC athlete-students. I've always said the ACC student-athletes are far smarter on average than the ones from the SEC, and it's proven by the schemes the coaches run.

Somebody said the Tide never learned how to bend. I agree completely. Our defensive guys made a half yard seem like a huge distance to gain. The Tide got red zone fatigue, fourth down fatigue, kickoff out of the end zone fatigue, call reversal fatigue, turnover fatigue, and 'are-you-kidding-me' fatigue. It all could have broken a greater team. Instead, we'll never know how good they were, or how great the Tigers could have been if they were forced to, because this Tide team didn't have enough heart to fight for 4 quarters.

Re: i think he's right, but for all the wrong reasons

Feb 1, 2019, 3:06 PM [ in reply to Re: i think he's right, but for all the wrong reasons ]

The Citadel was tied with the Tide at the half before talent won out.

Alabama ran out of gas against Oklahoma, but had built up a big enough lead early against OU's awful defense to win. Georgia had them BEAT (in a rebuilding year in Athens) before Saban was forced to put in Jalen Hurts.

ACC football is underrated. (Plus Notre Dame plays half an ACC schedule.) The ACC has won 3 of the last 5 National Championships. SEC schools have better athletes, but ACC schools have better coaching. That's how Wake Forest can beat Texas A&M and Virginia can blow out UofSC.

As bad as the Sugar Bowl was, we never gave up like Alabama gave up. We played badly (on offense), but we kept playing until the end.

My lasting image of that game is going to be Isaiah Buggs jogging after Travis Etienne in the 4th quarter! He was whipped! Mentally. Physically. Spiritually.

Let's pretend for a moment that he's 100% right. Isn't being able to get through a full season both physically and mentally a large part of winning a championship? Doesn't that say more about Clemson for still being sharp, and take away from Bama for not being?

Also, how were they mentally fatigued? The 4 playoff teams had 4 weeks between the conference title games and the first playoff game. What were they fatigued from anyway? They had 1 game all year that was decided by less than 10 points which was the 7 point win over Georgia. The 12 point win against Oklahoma was the next closest, and they led by 3 scores or more for most of that game after jumping out to a 28-0 lead. Their closet game in the regular season was a 22 point win over A&M which was a 45-16 game going into the 4th.

I have no doubt that Alabama was mentally fatigued...by the end of that game. They certainly didn't come out that way. They came out chippy and then got drugged from one end of the field to the other.

They were mentally and physically beaten into a coma. They are still so punch drunk that they still have no clue what happened. Excuses are for sore losers.

Alabama is sort of new at having to accept being beat in the Championship game, but they need to get it together a d learn how to act because there is more coming their way.
