I re-watched some Isaiah Simmons videos from his high school days and the only reason he wasn't a 5 star was because he was from Olathe, Kansas. If he had been from Florida, or Texas, he would have been rated much higher. Only 23rd among Safeties on ESPN rankings? At 6-4, 210 and good speed rated 23rd? Yep, it's the location of where he played high school ball that had him rated somewhat low even though he was a 4 star on their list.
247 and Rivals rankings had Simmons as a 3 star. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I use ESPN because for me it's easier to access, but they sure won on the Simmons rankings even if they had him as 23rd best safety which was kind of ridiculous in hindsight.

My daughter and son-in-law live in Greenville and he's a huge FSU fan and never will be converted. But, my grandson went to a Clemson camp recently and Simmons and Tee Higgins were the coaches. He had an awesome time and I am holding out hope for him to convert to Clemson or Texas. Haha.

Good post and good news on grandson! Tee Higgins and I. Simmons at camp is impressive. I would add Simmons rating was hurt by the complete absence of competition in KS vs. FLA, TX or GA.

They’re making the same mistake with Jaren Kanak this cycle. He’s a freak of nature. I believe they have him as a low 4/high 3.

ESPN player rankings are all over the place, and they will

bump up SEC and Big 10 prospects every year. Rivals and 247 have more consistent football recruiting rankings.

That is where most 4 and 5 star guys want to play!!! The rare occasion that you see a 5 star player commit to a school that will never win a championship, it's bc they have been a fan of that school their entire life, and have never considered playing anywhere else. Just like that 5 star O line that committed to the coots after Spurrier left. He visited Clemson, and he liked everything about Clemson, but there was his parents pushing hard the coots!!!
