TNET: Travis Etienne wants to leave a legacy as one of the all-time greats

Travis Etienne wants to leave a legacy as one of the all-time greats

Defenders across the ACC understand what it takes to corral Clemson running back Travis Etienne. When you think he’s going right, he jukes left. When you think he’s going left, he leaves you grasping at air as he sticks his foot in the ground and sprints to the right. And then, when you least expect it, he runs straight ahead and bowls you over. (Photo: John David Mercer / USATODAY) Full Story »

I think he's got his priorities in order. And hasn't he Always been a happy surprise for us?

I don't get why more players aren't like him. Sure, the NFL pays well. But, it pays a lot more if you are taken in the 1st round. People say that you make your money on the second pay check, but why not make it on both? Get your degree and move on unless you are a sure fire first rounder.

ETN is also thinking about having that degree when he is done with FB, and I don't see him staying in the NFL until he is broken up like most when the NFL rejects them. ETN will make that decision for himself without the NFL making it for him. He was raised right and taught to make decisions on his own, he is very smart for his age, and he will be very successful in life long after FB!!!

Every player is different. Running backs have an average NFL career of 4 years, I think? Other positions have a higher average and more years to earn money.

For some, 2nd round is as high as they ever hoped to go.

For some, it's a risk they're not willing to take. James Davis was projected as a first or second rounder his junior year; he stayed an extra year and ended up going in the 6th round. Tajh Boyd also slipped several rounds after coming back for his senior year.

This young man made a wise decision, and it's great for Clemson that he did.

I think his decision was made for beyond his playing days. He made a comment that he wanted to be able to teach his skills at any level. He knows that the role of a RB in the NFL is short lived and looking to make his money quick and then move to coaching. without the degree he would have to go back and get that beforehand. Very smart young man and a great Tiger.

Yep you're right, and Dabo don't allow coaches to come in that don't have a college degree. And I would love to have the all time college FB RB record holder to coach RB's at Clemson!!!!

ETN had a two policy starting last year and continues through this season.

Hope there's an insurance policy for him

I love that he's come back, but I'd hate for an injury to ruin his financial picture.

Travis is a kid that any parent or any team can be proud of, and being second at anything isn't what he thinks about, it's being the best that he can be with everything he does is what pushes him when he wakes up every morning everyday!!!!
