It makes sense and I especially like the out clause for the recruits if the HC leaves for any reason.

Dabo is about the game and doing things the right way. Everybody knows that!

I hope they change it to August, it makes good sense.

Dabo hit “the nail on the head.” It is a win-win for everyone and it would definitely slow things down and cut out schools like Bama and Georgia just throwing out a bunch of offers and it would help even things out across the board.

A “non-committable” offer is an oxymoron for sure!***

Yes, but the recruits need to wise up, or

get better guidance from their high school coaches. When schools are "offering" upwards of 300 and even more, scholarships, their high school coached should ban those schools from their campuses. Spurrier was bad for non-commit able offers and Muschamp took it to whole new levels.

Some coaches run off players to get better ones (Mack Brown when he took over after #### Crum was fired, spoke publicly about getting rid of slow white guys.)

How is it that Bama and others sign 25 - 30 kids a year, ?

I agree a 110% that it should be up to the High School coaches to protect their student athletes from wait and see offers that says, if we don't get a solid commitment from someone better than you, then our offer is good. But if we do get the guy that we really want, our offer is uncommittable, and those offers are total Bull Crap that could leave a recruit at a locked door that they can't go through bc they had a bogus offer that a coach has no intentions of honoring!!!!

The problem: 90% of these kids don't care about this anymore. All they care about is playing time or money. We had 10 or so guys supposedly committed to Clemson just up and leave in the middle of the season. Not so sure being selective AF with our offers is going to work anymore.

exactly the recruting game has changed

Feb 20, 2022, 12:53 PM

time for dabo to adapt..or get left behind

Yup. If he doesn’t the Clemson offer that he wants to mean something won’t mean much at all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There’s certainly some logic to his position

Feb 20, 2022, 9:34 AM

I would prefer having three signing periods instead of days such as Aug 1-15, Dec 1-15, Feb 1-15. This would serve the athletes well and allow kids that are the 2 or 3 choice on schools list a better opportunity to go to a preferred program. I would not do away with the Dec date.

As for the impact on coaches, I could care less. The money they make in todays environment makes any consideration on whether they keep a job or not meaningless unless Dabo wants to forgo the ridiculous buy-out or pay-outs. I think his position on that is obvious.

Great proposal. But would the SEC coaches agree?***

Either you’re in or you’re not and this isn’t dating 101!

A player must know in his heart if a school is right for him when involving his talent to a schools scheme & fit for him.

I know a player wants to play immediately and/or falls in love with a position coach but the bottom line is to be real to one’s self & personal needs and also to the school courting you, at least eventually and not milk it til the titt runs dry.

bigger issue is coaches being fired haphazardly

Feb 20, 2022, 12:54 PM

way way way too much turnover in coaching ranks

that alone paves the way for what dabo is really getting at… getting kids to stop shopping around

only wish dabo would take an even higher road, cut his salary and staff salary by 80%, and change the dynamics of college endowments etc that are further hindering his goal of EDUCATION FIRST

If NIL is going to stay in effect, Dabo's idea will be a tough sell. An offer is an offer whether it is August or December plus when you have an entire season of high school ahead, how many players might sign, get hurt and never play again?
