A pissed off Dabo is a good thing for Clemson. I think he'll be the most motivated he's been in a long time during the off-season.

Oct 28, 2021, 6:29 AM

He won’t wait for the off-season. Not sure why all y’all think the season is over. We’ve got 5 more games and Dabo will put everything he’s got into those 5 games too. That’s part of what he’s pissed of about. You can take your ball and go hime but that’s not what Dabo will do. Listen to the interview.

Sounds good Rhett - agree Dabo and most of team will work hard the last part of season. But IMHO some coaches and players took the ball and went home preparing for the 2021 season and during the 1st five games. Chemistry was not and is not there.

Oct 27, 2021, 8:48 PM

Don't need to read the article. I know where the heart is now. I know there is motivation and it is fueled by the need to purge oneself of ugliness. Sometimes that comes by the "poking" of those from outside.

I don't know what you are talking about but you sound like an idiot. I didn't do anything. I didn't call for any coaches to be fired. I didn't ask for your stupidity either.

What I did do was say I am beginning to see some REAL concern and care coming through CDS - which I knew must be there but was not communicated.

Playing "Patsy" cake with people does not wake them up. An ALARM going off does.

One thing This idiot learned from many years of managing diverse groups of people is that everyone is not motivated in the same way. Some people need a pat on the back to get them going (or wake them up) and some people need a kick in the tail to get them going. No 2 people are alike. I trust Dabo to know how to get the best out of each of his players individually. If you ever get the opportunity to lead a group of people, I wish you good luck when you try sounding the alarm at a person who responds better to a different type of motivation.

Ever get the chance to lead a group of people? Military taught me much more about leadership than your 15 seconds of typing. One thing you should also have learned in your "many" years is not to jump to conclusions... but thank you for your input. As a leader (worth his salt) should always do, I have listened to your opinion and will give it due consideration.

Have a good day.

As Clint Eastwood said in one of his "Spaghetti Westerns", it's alright now, and it really is going to be alright at Clemson. I'd say this will be the "turn around" game for us. Bockhorst, the publicity, etc. all has been festering, and maybe that's what we needed. Time will tell, but I surely would not bet against Clemson this week. If you do, YOU GONNA LOSE, and YOU GONNA LOSE HUGE!!!!!

All that talking back is good for his players to see, but Dabo don't play a down, and it's the players that has to be pissed off, after all, it is them making all the stupid penalties, dropping balls, running wrong routes, and not blocking until the whistle blows. Leadership has to step up and call out everybody that's not being accountable for their screw ups!!!!

I've seen every Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western and what is it he supposedly said? You aren't very clear.

He did say in one of his Dirty Harry movies that every man should know his limitations. I wish some fans would understand and know their own limitations as well and shut the hell up.

That’s the Dabo we have been waiting for and missing. I remover when this run started and he warned the conference that they better catch us now because they wouldn’t be able too in the near future. We all know how that went. I’d say the entire NCAA better be worried now.

Oct 27, 2021, 11:33 PM

Right now the only losses CU doesn't need to endure are Dabo and BV. I'm encouraged to see that Dabo is talking about things years into the future. I'm as frustrated as the next guy, but I'm betting that I've also been a Tiger for longer than many of those who post on Tigernet. I'm a '67 graduate of a father who graduated in '43, and taught me to love Clemson before I could spell it. I was a Tiger when Frank Howard had outstanding teams and when they were not very good. I went to GA Tech for 5 football season, and we lost every year I went. I've lived through Hatfield and West, and an unfair probationary period. I enjoyed the short tenue of Danny Ford, the misery that followed, the hope of Tommy Bowden and now the what I consider the greatest years in Clemson history, with Dabo. I'm as frustrated as any fan with the level of play that we are seeing this year, but a good friend, a VA Tech grad, reminded me this morning that the players and coaches are doing their best. They don't go out on the field saying, "Let's see what we can do to lose today." I have no idea how these student athletes do what they do - going to classes, going to practices, missing days while on the road, recovering from bumps, bruises, and injuries, then going out and playing the next weekend. Goodness knows, it was all I could do to go to class and study enough to pass with a mediocre GPA. I understand that the coaches are generously paid and that with NIL some of the students will now see some significant income. If you don't like that then don't join IPTAY, don't go to the games or watch them on TV, and don't buy what the players are endorsing, because without that income those salaries are not possible. But before anyone throws stones at these coaches I suggest they try being in charge of some 125 18-22 year old males, spending long hours coaching, recruiting, game planning, appeasing alumni and fans, and whatever else takes up about 16-18 hours of their days. Not to mention the unbearable pressure to win, win, win. I'm tired of the snide comments about how this team and its coaches are screwing things up. I didn't play football, but I still play doubles tennis, and I can assure you, I don't go out to the courts and say, "Let me see what I can do to help my partner and me lose?" If he or I double fault or make a bad shot, I know it was not on purpose. So when DJ misses a throw, a receiver drops a pass right in his bread basket, a runner fumbles the ball or misses a hole, a blocker misses a block or a tackler misses a tackle, I feel certain it was not done on purpose. And if the coach calls the wrong play for the offense or the wrong set for the defense, it was not intentional. I am confident that we can get through this rough spot. I would love to be in the valley this weekend to welcome the Tigers back home and, hopefully, to cheer for their success in kicking the butts of an FSU opponent who for years was our nemesis. BTW, I was there, almost in the end zone, for the famous punt rooskie. Talking about bad days! Surpassed only by the last game I attended with my father, GA Tech again, when we lost at the last minute on a TD in the end zone, in front of us. Join me in staying behind our coaches and players and being All In, even when it's not as much fun as it was in recent years. These are still our Tigers - for the real Tiger Fans, they always will be. GO TIGERS - BEAT FSU. Lets take it one game at a time until the big one in Columbia.

Agree with all you’ve said! One thing, its a little different for student athletes, especially extremely popular ones. They have many special programs to accommodate their special circumstances, including condensed classes in “study hall” environments where versions of normal classes are presented and testing done. They attend some full length classes with the normal student body a couple days a week, usually early, but they are basic core classes or certain electives. When I was a student, my roommate was a walk-on and later an assistant to Ford and Hatfield and now on staff at a well known school. He told me what players were taking each semester and I would choose those classes as electives. I was able to get woodworking with Brentson Buckner and Elden Campbell(basketball- bonus) and statistics with Chester McGlockton.

You and I have a similar background. I graduated in 1968, my father in 1938. I saw all of the losses in Atlanta to GT. I was on active duty in the army the first year we won. I attended the Puntrooski game and many miserable losses before Dabo became HC. I too have faith in Dabbo. He will right this ship. It may or may not happen this week, but it will happen.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Swinney "Get it in while you can"... OK here then...

Oct 29, 2021, 7:39 AM

Too bad it took 3 losses and half a season to get you mad. Not like when you weren't under a 93 million contract and actually got angry because you knew your guys were better than their game time performance.

Love all the hype talk too... like convincing us 'next man up' was what kept Clemson better than other programs... while in 2021 it's "we've had as many as 18 scholarships out... it's hard to juggle"

And while a 'win is a win' there is something to be said for an honest VICTORY instead of a back-into-win 3 of the 4 games against P5 opponents.

It's great to paint futures that are better... that's called hope... it springs eternal. But a better future starts today, not next year when players who were said to be better than certain NFL QBs can't transfer practice ability to consistent game time performance.

Coaching must sure be a challenge when you hand pick your recruits thru serious vetting for players but not the coaching staff under you. Players enter portals when advised that's probably best for them and Clemson. But coaches who can't motivate their players or train consistency seem to get pats on the back and 'you'll get better' rather than replaced with literal rather than figurative talent.

Yep, you sure are wide open for criticism in 2021. Maybe you'll remember that Stallings tried to teach you to always have an open ear and mind as a player and as an assistant coach. Now these many years later maybe you can remember that advice doesn't end just because you have a 93 million contract.

I think those are enough shots for now.
