My thoughts exactly. Love Dabo but he is sounding more like a politician than a realist. When you say stupid things like this over and over it eventually catches up to you. Where would you place this win? I would say no where in the top 50.
Now top five worst performances. Maybe. That may be the ugliest win ever competing with the other 3 D1 wins.

It doesn't feel like a turning point or anything. We could still easily drop a couple games down the stretch.
I don't know. Just felt like an ugly win over another subpar team rather than a circle the wagons gut-check win that Dabo seems to be implying it was.
If we catch fire and cruise the rest of the year then maybe he will have a point. But even then I don't see how it touches the top 5.

It was a win over a team with a worst record than our own, and I think that Dabo's words about it being a top 5 win, it was a message for the players to keep fighting when things are looking pretty grim for them, and they kept fighting and snatched a victory from what looked to be a defeat. And that is what it looked like was about to happen. And yes, I think that Dabo made that message to his players public. We hated hearing it spoken, but his players loved it, and I would bet on it!!!

Shows how little you know. He was not saying it for the media or the fans he was saying it for his players. This has been a brutal year no matter who or what is to blame and they could easily have packed it in when DJ once again gave away the game. I loved what he said because it shows his passion and it was a message to the kids to keep working. I believe in you. Don’t be so angry.

Dabo's statements are obviously geared towards being a positive spin for the team but listening to some of the things he has said this year just make you scream "WHAT" aloud. Hey, it was a big win though. One we desperately needed but it didn't instill a ton of confidence for most fans I would imagine. Pretty much everyone sitting around me is extremely frustrated with the Three Stooges look that continues with DJ. We need to beat someone convincingly before we get all gooey about our progress. My two cents. Ecstatic we won though. The ending was actually fun to watch which I can't say for most of this year.
If we can win at Louisville who knows. I wouldn't be shocked if we still get a chance at the division. That would be nuts and awesome.

Granted, the defense has carried us, for sure. Last night, however, especially in the beginning, they made very costly mistakes that could have been the difference in the outcome. The offense has struggled so much this year, and our QB continues to struggle. That’s so disappointing, because after last year, I thought he would be great. Maybe he still can be, but he is a long way off at this point. I’ll take the win, though, no matter how ugly.

I don’t know why I continue to read these negative, pessimistic posts! It was a great win. If you don’t think so, you’re not a real fan! And if Dabo feels like it’s a top 5 win, for him, then great, that’s good enough for me. I was quite excited myself! Very frustrated at times, but proud of the guys for finishing the way they did. And still very, very lucky to have Dabo as our coach and these great kids playing for us!!!

For real. This is a terrible season and this was a bright spot, so why #### on it? Somebody even gave you a downvote and they will do the same for me, but they are chicken ####. A win is always a win and this one was a bright spot in a bleak season. Why take a dump on it?

Wow, maybe you should sit down, but I agree with you 100%. It was a fun game to watch. Frustrating at times. The defense played like a Clemson defense, and DONT tell me you don’t know what I mean. Six sacks nine tackles for a loss and constant pressure. That was a Clemson defense. The stop on fourth down at midfield was huge. It was easy to understand what Dabo was saying when he said how that game ranked for him snd rather than call him names we should smile and think, he’s got this and we’re going to be okay. Good post

So which game does this beat out Dabo? The 2 Natty, OSU 31-0, DW beating USUC on a torn ACL, Nuk over LSWho in Atlanta, the DW duel with Lamar Jackson at home, crushing Baker Mayfield in Miami, Sammy Watkins show in Maryland, all our ACC championship games....the list is much much longer. Literally the dumbest comment Dabo has ever made. It was a great effort by our guys and I hope they are all smiles today BUT there's no excuse in our QB decision bc there is no way Helms or TP7 could play worse than DJ. He has Literally gifted as many TDs as he's thrown. DJ single handily cost us every loss in my opinion. I hate busting on DJ bc he's a great guy but he's not ready to be a starter. Passing game is embarrassing, zero progressions, too slow to run, terrible reads on the RPO, detrimental turnovers every game. Im putting the EJ fumble on him as well. Does anyone feel like VT during the Logan "he's so tall" Thomas era?

Any coach will tell you a win where your team overcomes multiple adversities to win a hard fought contest is more valuable to them and the team than a win where you are never challenged. That makes this better than the 44-16 beat down of Bama and several of the blowouts that have been mentioned here. Blowouts are fun for fans but gutting one out and getting a tough win is much more satisfying for anyone who is a competitor.

Beating Bama for a National Championship 44-16 where everyone in the country said Bama was the best team in history coupled with becoming the first 15-0 team....most prolific win in Clemson history. Beating a 3-4 FSU team at home to move to 5-3 won't be remembered in yrs to come by many as an accomplishment. Being well prepared and executing at a high level can feel just as good as winning a close game.

Another possibility is that Dabo is a "live in the present" type of guy, more-so than a "reminisce about the past" sentimentalist.
Sure, Dabo has some sentimental ah, er, sentiments.
But the 'action oriented' people tend to (if you'll forgive the cliche) focus on the present and future rather than the past. Everyone knows that Dabo is truly an 'action oriented' human being.

To each their own on Top 5 wins comment. It was a very ugly game offensively for us other than the running game. DJ is still struggling despite in his 8th start of the year. Throwing into double coverage, turnovers etc. DJ doesn’t know how manage the game period. Just stating the obvious. Shipley is a stud. Defense is still great. Otherwise we are a very average middle tier ACC football team. Win is a win. I just hope we can get better.
