Swinney says Tigers would have gotten "smashed" in real game, but he sees progress

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was pleased with a lot of the things he saw in Friday’s stadium scrimmage, but as the team prepares for next week’s spring game, he knows there are still several areas where the team needs to improve. Full Story »

DJU's throwing motion looks like he has potential get stripped a lot. I wonder if that is what Dabo means by ball protection?

I wouldn't take what's being said by coaches to serious right now bc, they are coaching their butts off, and that includes with what they are saying to the press so that his players can hear again what he has said on the practise field. Everything that's said, and done this time of the year is called coaching.

We all saw what kind of QB DJ is going to be in a live game against the second best team that we played last season, and the continuance of coaching him up will continue until he moves on to the next level of his FB career, where he will continue to get coached up!!!!!

The fact that we were able to run on our defense; does that mean that we will be able to run on pretty much anyone this year because our own defense is very good, or that our defense is not very good in stopping the run - due to missed tackles etc.?

I hope it is the former.

Wouldn’t read anything into that either way. There are a lot of defensive starters not scrimmaging, but still either way don’t read too much into it.

The Tigers were not a very good tackling team last year and I expect them to improve in that area.
.

The best news to me is the progress of the young receivers. The new QB will need some help from the pass catchers, especially with the 50/50 balls.

Spring game will be fun for all of us. I really missed that last year.

I notice that TP7 still has his left hand wrapped. Apparently he hasn’t healed from his injury last season.

There are very, very talented pieces of the puzzle on our roster but all it takes is a look at the basketball bracket to understand that the past is not a guarantee for the future. Lots of work to be done before September.

Thanks for the update ... a few thoughts ...

1) love to hear about the progress with Tchio and Rayburn,
2) take the purple jerseys off the QB's for a few plays and see how it goes, and
3) the team may look rusty, but no one in the ACC will be smashing this team fo 60 mins.
