Still think Ross in the slot is basically a cheat code.

Who can cover him?

Again, the thing that saves most defenses from that is that most 6'4" WR's simply cannot run those routes, but Ross can. He's sudden enough into his cuts, he's twitchy enough. We saw that a bit his freshman year when they moved him in there at times because he was frankly a bit understrength and it got him on the field. They do that sometimes with a young guy because it keeps him from getting pressed when he's still physically underdeveloped. And again, the thing we saw with Amari last year is that maybe Tyler Grisham's big strength as a WR coach is his ability to polish a WR's route-running ability to absurdity. If there was such a thing as "fantasy college football", I'd draft Ross first because he's likely going to put up stupid numbers next year, especially with Big Cinco's ability to pitch it over the top.

It does seem a bit...unfair. I dunno what you really would do about that, as a DC. This might be just about the biggest week-to-week mismatch in college football, trying to find the nickel CB or safety that can cover Justyn Ross. I mean, in South Carolina's case, last time we played them, we saw them playing, say, Jamyest Williams, all 5'6" of him, at nickel...DC's would probably do all they could to avoid that kind of glaring mismatch, but still, good luck there, sport. We're rooting for ya.
