What is the story on Ryan Linthicum?

He was the #1 center in his class and I never hear one mention about him. Considering the struggles we have been having determining who should play center, I'd think he would at least be in the mix or get mentioned.

I know it is a difficult position to master as a freshman, but was just wondering how he was doing in general.

From what I have heard he has a long way to go in the weight room. He was one of the lighter OL freshmen, and they said he needed some time in S&C. He will probably be great but I wouldn’t be surprised if he sees a RS this year.

What's funny about that - in an interview done today; KJ Henry was asked about his progress since coming to Clemson!
He straight up said, "I couldn't lift nothing"! And KJ was a five star!

The things you can get away with in H.S. won't fly in college without the weight room work! I know the staff will put some weight and strength and usable speed on this kid. Seems like a hard worker that will put in the work. Can't wait to see him on the field; for now stay in the oven(weight room) until you are ready!
Going to be a great player for Clemson!

Center is probably the hardest position to learn and to play on the field, but certainly on the OL. The center is the QB of the OL. He calls out defense matchups the OL must make, and he has to know everybody's assignment. He, also is the one who has to be ready for any, and all, adjustments needed as the defense shifts (which sometimes is 3 times) prior to the snap, and then make a great snap to the QB, or to whomever is moving into position to receive the snap. As a former Clemson OL, I saw the beauty of having a center who could do all that. I was not sharp enough to be the center. (Truth be known, I wasn't really that great at the rest of it either, but I tried.) It ain't easy, as they say in the deep South.

Major bummer re: Ngata. Can't seem to shake the injury bug.

However, if there's any position where there's major depth, it's WR. Ngata and Ladson not staying healthy opens the door up to EJ Williams, the Collins Towers, and Stellato going forward. I still think Beaux Collins will have a breakout year (as we typically always have 1-2 freshmen that stand out) alongside Will Shipley.

I just hope Ngata can get significant snaps in this season.
