Shock the World: Rittman says Tigers were well on their way to making objective come true

Just when the Clemson softball team was poised to shock the world, the season ended abruptly. Head coach John Rittman met with the media via teleconference Friday and said his team was close to reaching its goal. Full Story »

I think that our lady softball team had done better than I had ever expected for everything for the team being knew for everybody connected to the team. The young ladies had a just a little time to get to know and get use to each other, and they hadn't ever played a competition game with each other until the start of season. Give coach Ritter and his staff a lot of credit of just seeing these ladies practice together, and then putting them in the spots that they thought would give their 1st time ever team the best chance to win, and win they did. And they did it with a young team that had never competed together as a team. Personally I'm excited for our softball team, and hopefully they will bring a softball championship to Clemson very soon. Go Lady Tigers!!!

Just me but I don't think we should be too surprised at the way the season was going up until March 10th and why I say that is because a good many of the girls were together for 2 years prior to this season and they were practicing and scrimmaging. Also it's very obvious that John Rittman and his assistants had done a very good job of recruiting top talent during that time span.

Maybe I should have mention that also, but I didn't bc they hadn't played a real game together with actual real game time pressure that isn't in those girls head in practice or scrimmage bc there is still a lot of hands on coaching in those circumstances!!! But you are right in they have been together with some of them for a couple of years!!!

i am a self professed "diamond nut" . . .

I ?ived for the summers . . . Anything and everything having to do with a ball and gloves and bats I loved . . .

Almost two weeks ago I t-mailed D. Hood and asked him if he knew anyone who could get our Inaugural Softball Team to offer an autographed ball to the public to commemorate our first ever season . . .

He said he knew just the person and would "run it up the flagpole" and see what he said . . . I haven't heard back from David but if they'd offered one, would you buy one???

I still think it would be a neat commemorative item to display . . . If anyone sees such an offering, please post it on tnet!

Again, I am extremely proud of Coach Rittman, his staff and every young lady that made this Spring Special to me!!!

Way to go Tigers!!!

I'd certainly buy one.... And I'll add that I'd buy one at a premium if the money went to helping people out of work in the Clemson area because of the virus. Just a thought. Not sure how that would work.
