TNET: Recognizing a special Hero of the Game, who's also a Bulldog and Tiger

Recognizing a special Hero of the Game, who's also a Bulldog and Tiger

One of the highlights of each Clemson home game for me is the Hero of the Game segment, where someone with a Clemson connection who has served in the armed forces is brought out onto the field and recognized for their service. Let me introduce you to one of them. Full Story »

I am a lifelong Tigers fan. I enjoy reading all the posts but have always felt nervous to reply. However, this story about a man who has devoted his life preserving our freedom gave me courage to do so. I want to say how proud and grateful I am for Clemsons recognition of those who serve in the armed forces! On the eve of 9/11 I feel an especially deep admiration and appreciation for those who are willing to serve our country by laying their lives on the line daily. So tomorrow, as we stand together under a beautiful autumn sky and watch our Tigers run down the hill, let's all say a prayer for the brave men and women who fight to keep us free. Let's Go Tigers!!!

Wow, what a career! Please tell him that this old grandmother would love to give him a hug and kiss but will send it to him, virtually!

I am 99% positive I bunked next to him at bootcamp

Sep 10, 2021, 2:12 PM

He was the platoon scribe. We both got meritorious promotions out of basic. Cool guy. If anybody out there knows him, ask him if he remembers Elliott from platoon 2027, PI.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course I remember, brother.

Sep 10, 2021, 7:08 PM

The memories of boot camp never fade. Semper Fidelis my man Elliott. Semper Fidelis brother!

So cool to hear about your accomplishments with the Corps! Can't believe you became a DI! Cross must have made an impact. He was a cool cat. Simper Fi brother!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Absolutely bro.

Sep 10, 2021, 10:00 PM

Sgt Brown really had the biggest impact. When I became a DI, I realized how much of a machine he really was. A beast. Glad to hear from you brother! Semper Fidelis.

Brown was a beast. I can still smell his breath in my face and feel the brim of his hat on my nose, as I type. Love you Bro! Let's stay in touch.

What a role model for his two sons, all the young men he mentored in ROTC in high school and his many recruits in their basic training. I still have trust in the people of this great nation when I read about someone like this gentleman. So relieved to hear he went through his time in Afghanistan without any serious injuries. Thanks for sharing!

Semper Fi brother. From one Gunny to another. Great read and thanks for your service. Went through PI in 88. It sure looks different now. God bless and hope to see you round these parts often.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Semper Fidelis brother

Sep 11, 2021, 8:22 AM

PI still smells the same, and if you close your eyes, you go back to being a recruit again. When I was a DI, I would get surreal feelings when the recruits were around places I remember vividly as a recruit. One grad, we staged seabags in front of my recruit squadbay at 2nd Bn. I got chills up my spine. Semper Fidelis always, Guns.

OORAH!!
