Quick Thoughts: Defense is good again, offense has good and bad in win

Some quick thoughts on Clemson’s 49-3 victory over SC State, and we will start with the defense. Full Story »

Lack of vertical passing attack is concerning.
Scheme still appears to lack creativity for getting guys open and DJ and receivers have to play better....or gonna be a frustrating season.

When you watch it back, you'll see DJ is rattled. Why, I don't know. That's for the coaches because I don't know what they were working on. As stated above, all we have is vertical receivers, not much separating going on against much much lesser competition.

DJ looked a whole lot more mechanical sound in both passing and running last year... Even in backup situations. Perhaps the coaches will give more insight, perhaps not.

Also didn't see much use of the tight ends. Or as not as much over the middle. Sitting here watching arky against good Texas talent and they look better than we did against SC State. Confused and concerned. Yeah, we put up 49 and could have put up more, but we didn't look good doing it.

Kind of a disappointing game to watch

I was hoping to see better all around play and didn't see much to be happy over expect some of the backup defensive players who I think should be starters far as talent and just faster players but don't have the experience but I'm not impressed with our offense as a whole, seems to me our offense and players have not improved the last couple of years, I think so changes of personnel coaches and players need to be done on the offensive side, if you stay complacent you get passed. I need to see Clemson show they want to win and take risk instead of playing not to lose.

It really appears that “Best Is the Standard” is a thing of the past. Why oh why will we not make the changes that need too made??? I watched multiple teams today play against better opponents with 1/10 of the talent we have and look light years better than us. There’s really no sense in that. We’ve regressed and it shows. I just hope the necessary changes are made before it’s too late. GO TIGERS!!

Hellfire sick of hearing this is only DJ 4th game remember what Trevor did he should put that Bojangles stuff down and put his mind into football or bench him because right now he looks like a robot on the field...

Dj’s too worried about what pimp suit he’ll be wearing for his interview!

Let’s not forget what’s important!

I thought our backup QB looked faster and in more control than DJU5. I would like to see him in earlier in a game. Still amazes me that he is back from the ankle injury. Go Tigers!

Yes he did. As stated above, maybe DJ rated 100 to the coaches. Doesn't excuse zero passes 20+ throws. That is concerning. He was ranked number 1 QB. Consensus 5* with a rating of 99.25... That's game 1 generational talent. Not like he's a true freshman.

I don't like the trashing him. Don't have a clue what he has going on. Not going to speculate or call out his suit yada yada. However, I wouldn't mind a sensible discussion on what's going on. We do have a lot of good x and o football fans.

The closest I can come to describing this team is this. It looks like an all American team getting together to play an all-star game. Great playmakers but not a cohesive "team".
