Great read, David. The sign of a great leader is one that will show some vulnerability. Coach Eason explaining openly why he ate the way he did will help his players and anyone who reads the article. Another great Clemson man helping others, doing more than just setting an example.

Good for Coach E. I understand what he means about family history. Men in my family, with one exception, have averaged living only to 58 years old. I am trying to be more like that exception, my uncle that lived to be 92. Coach is right, if you want a different outcome, you need to do things differently. Smoking and alcoholism is what got most of my family so I don’t smoke and limit my alcohol intake. As with most things, it all comes back to personal responsibility and choices.

Props to Coach Eason.
I think some of us, me included for sure, have been addicted to food in more or less the same way that heroin users are addicted to their drug of choice. It is easy to become emotionally and perhaps culturally addicted to overeating. I think that once your mind and body gets in the addicted zone with food, it is very hard to change your ingrained habitual ways. I am not sure just how well anyone can really get fully past overeating. I think that Coach Eason and the rest of us who ever got really fat are in a life long battle.
Bravo to Nick Eason and to every other person trying to kick the overeating addiction.

Sugar is the addiction. It has been proven to be in the same category, from a brain euphoria/ addcitive process, as heroin.

More power to Nick. I know he will reach his goals. Many really big former football players lose a lot of weight after playing days. Some are almost unrecognizable. No one needs to carry around a set of weights after reaching a certain age.

I think alot of former lineman have an identity tied to them from their youth and they stay big for really not reason. I was in that group at one time.

But i lost 40 lbs and still eat the meat and dairy . I did give up the little Debbie’s though
