Methinks Clemson hit a home run with this young man! Definitely a bright spot Saturday night.

The article says he was the first true freshman to start at safety since records were kept in 1973, but that was the first year that freshmen could play on the varsity. Back in those years, there were freshmen teams that played about a 5 game schedule.
Some schools kept a freshman team for a while even after 73 for those players that weren't quite ready to play with the big boys just yet.

As a native of Austin, Texas I was pretty surprised at how good Mukuba is. His school used to put out talent pretty often, but for the last few decades it's been a rare thing for a kid to come out of Austin LBJ. A lot of drugs and gangs in that school and he was a bright spot. I was really proud of the way he played the other night.
