Not a big fan of the rugby punts. Maybe occasionally but not as much as we have done it in the last few years.

We must have a consistent BOOMER, or rugby punts become necessary…..
I hope we come up with a a real Boomer this year, like Dale Hatcher (40 years ago…).

You only resort to rugby punts if you can't punt effectively using the regular method...not a good sign.

A lot of times it's called based on the defensive alignment. I like it and it has its merits.

Kicking will be ok. Not concerned. Very concerning with the injuries... Starting to sound a lot like 12 months ago. You can't believe a word Dabo says about injuries and expectations to be back for game x etc. And of all our units, we can ill afford injuries to WR or oline. Better get Hamp ready.

Speaking of oline - any word on Pennington and Tate progression? Both first string? Wasn't Williams out all last season... And had such high hopes.

This is honestly the first thing that popped into my head

Aug 12, 2022, 11:54 PM [ in reply to Forget the rugby ]

when I read about the poor punting situation last week or whenever that article came out. I was wondering if Dabo was disappointed in the punting because he was trying to teach them to rugby punt.

Rugby punting doesn’t belong in a football game. It belongs in a rugby game. As another poster so eloquently wrote, “rugby punting is for punters who can’t punt”.

Stop with the rugby punting. It’s embarrassing. I’m really sick of being the worst punting team in the league. Fix it. Ask a soccer player to come punt. I GUARANTEE he/she could get you at least 30 yards every time. Or just go for it on 4th down.

Disagree. Dabo wants to win (and has successfully won) with his 22 vs their 22. Special teams is a wild card and from what I can tell, Dabo tries his best to eliminate it from the game entirely. The rugby punt puts the ball on the ground allowing our coverage to see where it is, and it allows our coverage to get downfield since it slows the ball down.

Yeah, I thought he was goong to take over punting this year which is why he came back one more season. He wanted to add that to his game to make himself more valuable in the NFL. That's what I understood anyway.

You are correct. BT was going to add that to his reportore.

Sounds like a summer spa/day camp

Aug 12, 2022, 2:34 PM

Compared to to Danny Ford’s summer regimen. The rule changes have really lightened up player workloads and possibly are increasing injuries.

That's hilarious... I was trying to visualize it. It'd be a scream to have video.

Still would like to know how Tate and Pennington have progressed... Since last summer Dabo had said if he hadn't got injured, he probably would have played. Good vibes from the oline.

Interesting on punters as Max Morgan, Christ Church Episcopal School ('21) Greenville, SC, was all about Clemson - even had a formal visit in Nov. 2019, but once COVID set in and shut recruiting down while giving NCAA athletes yet another yet of eligibility, he is at Liberty with Hugh Freeze where he stepped up last year as a Freshman ranking in the top of the Nation (even #1 in the Nation for W6 on 2021) - He will be a red shirt sophomore.
Plus, his mom and grandfather are Clemson grads...
The only place he would leave Liberty for would be Clemson... Just sayin...
