I've already told my wife this is a must-watch for us on Saturday. Normally I can take or leave spring games knowing they are "just" a scrimmage but I'm intrigued by the offensive differences with Riley and co. I'm cautiously optimistic, and also hoping that we don't get any major friendly-fire injuries on Saturday. Really optimistic that this could be one of our best teams overall, but there are a TON more ifs than normal to me. Can Klubnik look better than last year in the new system? Can someone step up at LB behind the starters who may be the best LB unit in the country? Can some of the freshman step in ready to roll for depth/performance? Can Gunn/Swanson not let special teams turn into a liability? Can Shipley hit that next level and reduce fumbles and COMPLETE some breakaway runs? And for the love of pete, can players stay healthy? We need to call Billy the Exterminator to knock the injury bug off the roster, particularly the WR room and the secondary. If all of those or even most come true, I'll be needing a new decal for the back of my truck, so I'm hoping so.

Just a scrimmage? I thought foul words were not allowed on this site? If this was Fall and more football soon, I might agree with you.

x100000000 to this! Stay healthy and let's make it to the fall with no injuries.

The only thing I think we probably won't see is "Shipley complete breakaway runs". Based on watching him all last year, I don't think he has that ETN/Spiller Gear -- he's closer to the Wayne Train in the RB category IMO.

He may run a fast 40 but that speed hasn't translated to the football field for whatever reason.

I've always felt like there was a huge difference in 40 speed and football speed. Assuming it's because of pads changing your stride and when carrying the ball it changes how you swing your arms.
I agree that he doesn't seem to have that gear in pads...just hoping that maybe he develops it. lol

Coach speak is always about coming out of the game with zero injuries. But, myself as a fan, I’m looking for a new group of rising talent and to see if Klubnik has improved
I will record the game and watch it numerous times even if it is meaningless as far as real truths about either side of the ball. Still, it’s off season and there’s little else to watch.

I agree on the recording a "meaningless" practice game. And I also agree with there isn't much else to watch. I cannot wait to get home from work to watch it though

I will be there at the meaningless scrimmage and record it for you in my brain dvr, or BVR. Go Tigers!

Perhaps my level of sarcasm didn't fully come through with the "just" comment. Or I didn't explain myself well. I haven't, in many years in the past, put priority on watching the game as it happens. More about watching film from it afterwards if there's something the family has going on. This year is a bit different for me, and if I hadn't driven 14 hours round trip this weekend and have 8 hours round trip the weekend after, would consider driving the 7 hours round trip to be in Death Valley.

What’s up with Randall?

Stellato is still out?? This guy may never play at Clemson.

Randall had some cleanup procedure done on his knee so he missed most of Spring Camp -- though apparently, he played some in the last scrimmage.

Stellato tore his knee up in fall camp and is still recovering -- I'm anxious to see him get in a full healthy season. He was one of the recruits I was excited to see take the field and he's just had horrible luck with injuries.

I agree. I have been excited about Stellato from day 1. Kid is super talented and I hate he has been bit by the injury bug. Praying he will stay healthy.

You probably don’t care enough to see this, but we also had a couple of Shipleys, Jordan and Jaxon. Jordan was the older and he got to Texas and missed his first two seasons and people were making similar comments as you are now about Stellato. Who knows what the future holds for Stellato, but Jordan Shipley went on to a record setting career before he was done. He was offensive rookie of the year in Cincinnati before a serious knee injury did him in permanently

I’m hoping success also for Stellato at least in college and no more injuries

Also, I know Will Taylor is playing baseball, but I hope he’s focused on football this summer. Supposedly, he and Klubnik are right and similar to Jordan Shipley and Colt McCoy in that they could be an awesome combo
Taylor was explosive as a freshman before his injury and I hope he recovers that. Klubnik has more raw talent than Colt McCoy and a better arm. McCoy was a lot faster and more athletic than people gave him credit for and could run a 4.5 in college. Not sure Klubnik’s speed, but he’s athletic and super quick. I do believe he’s got the better arm and the much better deep ball. Losing McCoy definitely cost a shot at a title for us in 2009. That’s on Mack, also, for not having a backup ready. Colt’s shoulders had been a problem for 4 years, dang it

Why would anyone think Turner is like Renfrow, Humphries, or Grisham when he's clearly taller and plays on the outsi---oh, now I see.

I’d a say about 90% of underclass men should come back. Just my opinion. Probably if you’re a RB you should leave early, but just because of a short shelf life for the position

Is there any part of the Clemson offense that is not of interest? Yes, we have 2 great RB's returning, but how will they fit into Riley's offense. Can our QB's move forward after 2 discouraging years? Is the OL ok, or have we reached a point where we can discuss being elite again? Dabo has spoken of competitive scrimmages. We hope to see great team and individual efforts as we move forward. The defense has much to prove as well, but the biggest questions are on the offense.

Still worried about our Wide receivers. Not only at the talent level but also our depth.

Yes, this is why I'm interested to see if they utilize the TEs and middle of the field more to compensate. I'm a big fan of adapting to your personnel and we have an opportunity to have a very productive TE group.
