I surly hope that you're right. With BV leaving to be a HC, it seems that recruits feel that our life time tradition on the D side of the ball left with BV. And it seems we're having a hard time getting high levels recruits interest in becoming a Clemson Tiger. I just want say to any recruit, our high level coaching of our Clemson players will not suffer just bc our DC was promoted to a HC position. All teams are guided by the HC, and Dabo Swinney has more than proven that he is one of the TOP HC's in the country, and that is bc he knows coaching talent, and he has replaced all that went to OU with BV, with coaches that are more than capable of coaching recruits to play at the next level, and that every coach that went with BV, Dabo is the one that put them in the place that they were in, at Clemson bc Dabo is the one that hire them to coach at Clemson, and Dabo will replace them with coaches just as good, or maybe even better than the ones that left for OU.
What they fail to understand, BV mostly coached the LBs, and he had assistants helping him do that at Clemson. Also they seem to be thinking that if they go to OU, they will still have BV coaching them directly with hands on coaching, that will not be the case bc, as a HC, BV's duties as a HC will keep him totally busy looking after the entire team as a whole as Dabo does at Clemson, with him hardly having anytime at all for hands on coaching, that is why HC's have to depend on their assistants to do all the hands coaching, and relate to the HC how they are progressing.
Any recruit that believes going to OU will still have them coached up by BV, they will get a shock when they see that isn't going to happen. What they should know is that, even though some Clemson coaches went to OU with BV, it was for advancement, and not bc they were the best coaches leaving Clemson to be with BV, and Dabo is replacing those that left with just as good assistant, and I would hope that our bowl game showed that Clemson didn't skip a step with the coaches that Dabo put in place after BV was promoted to HC at OU.
At this point in BV's Head Coaching career, he hasn't proved anything as a HC, But, Dabo has proven in the past 12 years at Clemson, that he is one of the top 5 college HC's in the entire country, and BV will need several years before proving he can even survive as a HC. Some of the best Offensive, and Defensive Coordinators in the country has been promoted to a HC position, and failed as a Head Coaches after they were promoted to a HC position, and it happens every season, so IMO, there is no way to know if Brent Venable will succeed, or fail as Head Coach bc he just got his first job as a college HC...
Just saying, recruits ignoring Clemson BC Venables left to be the HC at OU, remember this, Dabo hired BV, and he has replaced him with BV's right hand man while he was the DC at Clemson, and he done an out standing job in his first game as a Defensive Coordinator!!!

I do not believe any individual recruits have indicated a loss of faith in the new Clemson coaches who have backed up BV for years -- some for a decade. My take is that the group of three IMG players collectively decided to pass on their Clemson offers at a very late date.
unsurprisingly one of the reasons (or possibly just excuse used) cited was BV leaving. But since these three players were from the same high school, and all decided to go to different universities instead of staying together to play college ball, possibly there were other factors at play. Maybe these kids who played together a short time at IMG really do not like each other. Who knows? Who cares?
It sounds like Clemson coaches are honing in on some high quality recruits to replace the IMG players.

Yeah, we'll never really know but is highly suspect 3 from the same school. Then kanuck, so it was 4. Most likely a combination of factors and I'm sure all the coaches jumped on them and said Clemson was falling apart. New AD, down year. Even the negative press. The only thing was the timing.

Hopefully Dabo, Wes, and Mickey seal the deal with these two. We need all the depth that we can get for next year.

It sounds like exciting possibilities here, NikkiHood®, with these two guys from Montgomery Catholic.
It's more than good enough if the Clemson coaches (and only the Clemson coaches) have belief in the S and LB in question to make them an offer.
Icing on the psychological cake (if you'll pardon the goofy metaphor) that other reputable programs already had previously taken commitments from them, and that new reputable programs are pursuing both of these guys since their decommitments from elsewhere.
Very good players in positions of need ... sounds great if they choose to come to Clemson!
Thanks Nikki!

It's more than good enough if the Clemson coaches (and even if it's only the Clemson coaches) have sufficient belief in the S and LB in question to make each of them an offer.
Icing on the psychological cake (if you'll pardon the goofy metaphor) is that other reputable programs already had previously taken commitments from them, and that new / different other reputable programs are pursuing both of these guys since their decommitments from their original choices.
Very good players in positions of need ... sounds great for everyone if they choose to come to Clemson!
Thanks Nikki!

Getting these two and the RB from Texas would definitely be a big boost to this class. Time for Dabo, Eason et al to turn on the charm

getting these three players plus one WR from the portal and maybe two interior OL guys from the portal and we are in great shape. I think Pennington will be great if he is recovered and I have always liked Rayburn at center. Need one more experienced big guy for the middle and another for depth to help push everyone to be the best.
