Sophomore defensive tackle Bryan Bresee has drawn comparisons to NFL All-Pro JJ Watt, but defensive tackles coach Todd Bates isn’t ready to put his star pupil in that particular galaxy. Not yet. But Bates says that Bresee has all the tools to be special. Full Story »

BB will continue to get better at being great, it’s going to be fun watching his improvements.

If he stays healthy he will be an all-pro in the future. He could make a fortune in the NIL if he is marketed right because he’s incredible to watch & has great leadership.

He's light years ahead of JJ Watt at this stage of the game. Watt had to walk on at Wisconsin because nobody big even wanted him and then he busted his ### to get better. Hopefully, BB will be the same with the work ethic. He really could be special.

I watched nearly every down JJ played as a Texan...

and the similarities are striking:

Incredible brute strength

Freakish athleticism

Insane effort on every single play

Underrated quickness and first step

Vastly underrated hand technique (seriously)

Effective on both the inside and outside

JJ could wear out one side of an O-line by himself sometimes because he was the Energizer Bunny. He affected so many plays where no stats were given to him. Stats don't come close to showing how disruptive he was when on the field.

Bryan has all these traits. It's just a matter of what level he reaches.

One area Bryan exceeds JJ is meanness. He plays very angry. JJ not so much (at least anymore).

One thing I notice that is telling; every time I see an in-game picture of him, he is being held LOL.

Good call. I left this off my comparison list.

JJ got held so much it was a complete joke. It's like the refs felt obligated to help opposing O-lines because they didn't want to throw a flag every play.
