Sorry if Germans but haven't seen this on here. An article in the Seneca Journal on Saturday said that Johnstone Hall is going to be torn down next summer. I has the sad since I spent my 4 years at Clemson there. But the one of the bright spots is that 450 football parking spaces are going to be created there.

"With a clearer forecast coming into focus for a top-10 college football matchup tonight, one of Clemson University’s oldest buildings likely won’t be part of the picture a year from now.

Plans to demolish Johnstone Hall, which was built in 1954, remain in the early design stages, but the 'earliest work would begin would likely be next summer,' according to university spokesman Joe Galbraith.

Last October, school trustees signed off on spending $180,000 to design the demolition of Johnstone and the Union complex building — constructed in 1974 — with chief financial officer Rick Petillo saying at the time the latter was 'in poor condition.' Johnstone has been vacant in recent years, but has served as temporary housing, primarily when students needed to be quarantined with COVID-19.

Construction would likely last from July 2023 to June 2024, pending board approval, and last fall’s estimates registered the cost of the project at $12 million. In all, the project would return 132,500 square feet back to greenspace. Officials projected the school would save $1.6 million in annual utility maintenance and security costs in taking Johnston down alone. It would create 450 gameday parking spots and return about 6.7 acres of core campus to student outdoor recreational space, executive vice president of finance and operations Tony Wagner said in April 2021.

'This is a project that will allow us to move a lot of the facilities operations from that high-value core campus real estate,' Wagner said. 'You’ve got almost 7 acres of green space that we could create right in the core campus that would be very advantageous and close to Memorial Stadium.”

My sophomore roommate in B had 2 pet boas that he kept in a cage. He sold tickets on feeding day to pay for the mice. One day he came home from class to find one of them missing. We searched all over but never found him. A few months later he came crawling out of the "closet", starving and in search of food.
