Tigernet needs to create a new board or provide members with a weekly

Feb 13, 2021, 1:07 PM

Transfer Portal Report. There are so many players coming and going. It’s impossible for the average fan to keep up with who is now in the portal.

I think the transfer portal as it currently is used is bad for college football. I look for some of the future recruits to hire someone to handle their marketing and recruiting. Almost like an employment recruiter.

IMO the NCAA has outlived its usefulness and is trying to hang on for the financial benefits. The NCAA has lost complete control of college football. Eventually the government is going to step in because of Anti-Trust laws.

I am saving articles and photos so when I look back in 7 to 10 years I will remember what college football use to be like. An amateur sport where most kids played for the love of the game.

I hope Dabo can add 2 or 3 more NC Trophy’s to his great legacy.

Thanks for the heads up on the sky that is falling in as we speak. The portal will sort itself out. Right now it is too new and the advantages and disadvantages will make themselves apparent as we move forward. I wouldn't sweat it much

I hope I am wrong. Around 2009 or 10 I said college football would become a Rich man’s game. It’s hard for the average fan to attend more than 1 or 2 Clemson games a year because of the cost. Ask those 30 and 40 year IPTAY members how they felt when for financial reasons they lost seats they had for many years. Some were even boated to the upper deck. Parking spaces were lost.

The players are now feeling more and more entitled. Players use to give autographs for free. Now even the high paid pros charge for a signature and it’s almost impossible to get someone like TL or ETN’s autograph.

Politics has become a part of the game, players do not respect their own country or in some cases the coaches and the fans. For some it’s all about the NFL, forget that college degree.

If they pass the law where players get paid for likeness, autographs etc... then I believe college football as most of us know it now will become a shell of what we use to watch. Look how pampered they are. They now have their own free agency system. If the are allowed to make money off their likeness team unity will be lost, unity locker rooms will become a thing of the past in most schools.

Fans will pay for all these changes in one way or another.

I look for some schools from each Power 5 conference to form a super conference.

Honestly I hope I am wrong. I would not mind being labeled chicken little who over reacted.

Disagree on the respect for country thing and all the political stuff. The last year plus a little has political in all parts of life. That will calm down moving forward. Some players have always had attitude but not all. As far as the expense thing yes that is out of hand. Personally I think the NFL should be forced to make minor league teams and if they want to draft kids out of high school like MLB more power to them. Then I think we see costs coming back down. But that will take conferences and universities saying no to the NFL. Hopefully it happens. Not holding my breath. I have learned to just pick two games a year and buy great seats and a parking pass and go from there. I donated to IPTAY since I left in 1992 and did for 15 years but it just wasn't feasible for me to spend that money knowing I would miss up to four games a year with kids and whatnot. I keep hearing rumblings of changing times ahead so I'll enjoy for now and see what happens.
