Tigernet Challenge II: Who was better, Terry Allen or

Raymond Priester?

I'll say Priester by a hair and it would have been interesting to see him behind Allen's offensive lines.

TA, but IMO

Kenny Flowers is the best of all the great backs at clemson. One has to remember he was hampered by injury his last year, and shared carries with some other really good backs his entire time at clemson. He had the rarest combo of power/speed.

Priester was our best RB on some fairly mediocre to sorta good teams.

They were very different types of players. I thought both made the very best of their given situations.

If Priester was Larry Csonka, then Allen was Mercury Morris ...both great in their own right.

But, if I was responsible for building a team around just one of them, a 100% healthy Terry Allen would be my choice without a doubt.

I agree. This is not worth even comparing. TA is the best rb ever at Clemson. Don't scream Spiller. Spiller is the greatest athlete ever at rb. He was not even close as a pure rb over his career. He didn't even figure out how to follow his blocking until midway thru his senior year. TA consistently went forward every play. Gallman is the one who should be compared to TA.

Terry Allen by a decent margin. Are you old enough to have seen Allen play? We had a stable of All-ACC caliber backs when Allen was here and he was the best. Raymond didn't have near that type of competition.

was our best RB ever after CJ. Allen was a great back but his offensive lines were the best we've ever had.

I was at UGA game in 87 that was Allen's coming out party.

I would put Priester outside of the top 5. My viewing history goes back to the mid 80's. He just wasn't as electric as many others. It's really that simple to me.

I agree with the poster talking about Daytona Beach Spruce Creek High's own Kenny Flowers being greatly under appreciated as well.
