Lady Tigers like Lady Macbeth Or the Lords and Ladies of the middle ages?
How about showing respect for our softball team by trying to avoid misogynistic terms for the players?
We simply have a team with players just like football or baseball where we never say the Lord Tigers or male tigers. Especially since there is no male softball team and even if there were Lady is the incorrect term as it indicates social standing and not gender.

the term lady/ladies is both appropriate, polite, and respectful.
Do you ever wonder why Hood does not use that term in his stories about softball or the team releases never include the term ladies?
From the womens sports foundation:
NAMES Just as male athletes are generally referred to as “men” or “young men” so female athletes should be referred to as “women” or “young women,” and not as “girls” unless they are under 12 years of age. Female athletes should never be referred to as “ladies.” Use of first and last names should be consistent in coverage of men’s and women’s events. For example, if it’s Becker and Sampras who play tennis with great daring, then it should be Navratilova and Graf who do the same in the women’s tennis, not “Martina” and “Steffi.” Names of teams should reflect parallel word usage. Rather than Longhorns as the name of a men’s team and Lady Longhorns as the name of a women’s team, the teams should be referred to as Longhorn Men and Longhorn Women or the Longhorn men’s basketball team and the Longhorn women’s basketball team.

Oh good lord. Get a grip. Or something important to b@tch about
just trying to help educate and inform the Tiger faithful to look less like misogynistic a-wholes. it seems some are dead set on labeling the women athletes with inappropriate and/or inaccurate terms so we all know they are female and not real athletes.

Actually I am the one following what most would consider a respectful tone in terms of discussing collegiate women's sports teams. Not sure why it is so hard to understand except for those who are stuck in the 1960 when women were secretaries who got your coffee.
