Tiger Baseball and Leggetts future.

May 10, 2015, 1:03 PM

Last year Drad did the unthinkable by giving JL another year. He gave him the chance to make changes on the staff . Markers were laid down for the arrogant Jack to keep his job. Have we seen improvement this season? NO! In fact we have gotten worse. Excuses from lack of support in previous years to poor facilities to lack of participation in the ACM are being used to save this jerks job. You will throw up when you read the commentary on the Clemson insider. This program under Leggett has slipped badly in the last five years. It's time to make a change now and get rid of Jack .

laugh when i read "commentary on the Clemson insider."

they just don't seem to have a gut for this whole commentary thang.

The only reason that Robert Thorne McRae is defending JL that makes sense is that they are friends. I'm sick of their Leggett love fest.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

understood, but he's as much right to 'his' as you do yours.

May 10, 2015, 2:06 PM

i'm no robert fan, have said so on many occasions and was having a poke of the fun at robert with the "gut" comment.

and really, coach leggett's an ahole & yankee scum according to some, how could he possibly have any friends?

;)

Of course he has the right to express his opinion. I just find his reasoning flawed. Jack could have changed pitching coaches last year. He did not make any changes. It's too late to do the fire the assistants .

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

then why let it get you "sick"? seems silly to get that

May 10, 2015, 6:00 PM

emotionally or physically "upset" if you also think his thinking is flawed.

since you are from the Clemson family, do they want jack gone? passive/aggressive?

What's with all the name calling? Do you know jack? I'm not friends with the man but I've met him a few times, he's been to our tailgate and seems like a pretty nice person.

The program has gone down hill and I think it'd time for Jack to go but why are you calling this man names? He's a Clemson Man and was hand picked by Bill.

For the life of me,

May 10, 2015, 1:23 PM

I can't understand what possible reasons people can conjure up to justify any more years of underachieving. I was surprised he survived last season. If he survives this season...well, we Tiger fans have bigger problems than just our somewhat embarrassing baseball program.

Quit acting like college baseball is college football....

May 10, 2015, 6:21 PM [ in reply to For the life of me, ]

Barely anybody outside of the state of SC keeps up with how our baseball team is doing. Leggett has been a great coach for us. He has done it with integrity. Fans like you are a black eye on Clemson fandom. Throwing a hissy fit over non revenue sport, where coaches are never under pressure.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This that type of attitude is why we're stuck in mediocrity...

May 10, 2015, 7:09 PM

Our program has too much pride and tradition to continue down this path. Baseball at Clemson used to be the best among the best in the southeast.

Quit acting like nobody cares because this program can become a cash cow with the right staff and backing by our administration. 2 conference titles in 22 years at a program like Clemson is flat out unacceptable.

You need to realize because Terry Don gave JL an airtight contract that it would have cost a crazy amt of $ if he was fired. D-Rads hands have been tied. Now that this is his last year Of contract hopefully the board will approve to pay him off. Lot of people will be cancelling season tickets next year if he returns.

If you think the contract TDP gave Jack was airtight, what do you think of the one's DR has given Dabo and Brad?

At this juncture, we are at best an average baseball team.

May 10, 2015, 9:56 PM

WE ARE WHO WE ARE.

At this point we are a 27-25 baseball team that is no longer a credible threat in a conference we once excelled in. It will be up to those in power to decide how many more seasons they are willing to accept this as our standard. To honor former and future Clemson Baseball teams, I hope wise decisions are made.

May 10, 2015, 10:00 PM

What will Drad say if Clemson if swept at FSU next weekend, then goes out right away at the ACC tournament, leaving Clemson with a FINAL LOSING RECORD FOR THIS SEASON!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should that happen, he had better approach his boss with solutions.

May 10, 2015, 10:08 PM

And decisions should be made. Compassionately, but quickly.

Leggett's fate affects every former Clemson baseball player

May 11, 2015, 9:20 AM

how do his former players feel? Would firing him estrange them from the program? One of the things Clemson prides itself on is the continuing association with former athletes in all sports, how many former players "come home" every season and continue to support the programs. Leggett being so closely tied with Wilhelm connects nearly every living Clemson baseball player to the same "family". A bunch of the donations to build the new facility came from former players, with several even on the building committee.

I have not heard much from this angle - would former players understand making a move? Would it cause many to stay away in the future? Donating money for a facility that Leggett will never be able to enjoy - what affect will this have?

It's a terrible, awkward year for this to happen.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would think former players are embarrassed about the state

May 11, 2015, 10:08 AM

their once proud program is in, and would not complain about a change being made to make it better.
