New Story: Can the Tigers make a three-peat title game appearance?

Jun 21, 2017, 7:01 AM

Can the Tigers make a three-peat title game appearance?

Can Clemson make a three-peat appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship? The odds say that it’s hard for any team to make repeat appearances, much less a third, straight, but Clemson will attempt to do just that this season.

I love Clemson but it will be tough to get to the top four. Hope they do it. Goooooo Tigers!!!!

It will all come down to how our new qb plays. He does not

Three-peat?

Jun 21, 2017, 11:35 AM

That term applies to winning 3 consecutive championships... not playing in 3 consecutive championships. I get what you're saying about how impressive it would be to play in three consecutive championship games. But, that term... "Three-peat" is reserved for actually winning those championships. I only mention this because if I'm a fan of a rival school and see TigerNet talking about three-peats, then I'm calling it out and laughing with my buddies.

see: 1998 Chicago Bulls, 2002 LA Lakers, 2000 NY Yankees

It's a rare event. And just showing up doesn't qualify (although, again, it would be an impressive accomplishment).

Hopefully we can have this conversation this time next year after winning our second consecutive championship in 2017.

Maybe y'all will win enough games this year to combine your last three seasons win total to our total last year, 5-7 could be stretch though.

LOL

I've been a die-hard Clemson fan my entire life. I've been on T-net for 14 years. I was in Phoenix for the loss to Bama and Tampa for our win.

You've misunderstood my intent and my affiliation. Do your homework.

What's with the knee jerk "coot" comment?!?

Jun 21, 2017, 12:49 PM [ in reply to See below for link back to your board. ]

I know I don't post that often...

But to call someone a #### that has more posts than you and a higher pulse is ridiculous!

I actually agree with them... a 3peat is WINNING 3 in a row. I would love to see that happen and think there is a chance we can, but lets repeat first! lol

The whole point of a forum is to discuss and comment. Not to attack those who do.

Thank you. Well said.***

Disagree. I have piled onto misleading headlines before

Jun 21, 2017, 1:31 PM [ in reply to Three-peat? ]

but this one is very clear. Three-peat title game appearance. "Three" plus "repeat" equals "three-peat". There is no claim to additional titles.

While I agree that using the term three-peat as a noun implies championships, when used as an adjective as in this example, it can have other applications.

Can we no longer use the word "repeat", either, except when referring to athletic feats?

yeah you right. Nobody is saying the Warriors and Cavs three peated. We could however three peat the ACC title, but that's it.

Actually, we're replacing six starters on O, not seven. Nitpicking aside, the goal should be to win, not participate in another title game. Did the Bills 4-peat?!

our defense will keep us in every game this year

we will learn a lot in game two vs auburn

I witnessed another NC in my lifetime. I 'm happy. Hopefully more to come.

I was in Phoenix and Tampa this year. Best 10 days of my life.
