The back and forth between the lawyers continue...

Apr 6, 2021, 10:11 PM

Now Deshaun’s camp is saying that Buzbee sought 100k from deshaun to settle with Solis a month before the lawsuit came out. I thought she claimed this wasn’t about money. Apparently he has the emails to prove this. The drama continues.

A civil suit typically IS about money.

I think these comments were in direct response to Solis saying in her press conference that this wasn't about money and was about making sure Watson didn't do this to any other woman. Watson's camp is saying the 100k offer would have included an agreement for her to not go public. If you're only worried about him not doing it again then you certainly aren't going to consider taking 100k in exchange for not telling anyone.

this would have saved his repuation/career had he agreed.

Apr 7, 2021, 9:11 AM

Even if he gets through this with a career his reputation will forever be tied to these allegations.I'm not saying that i would agree with this method but paying that price might have avoided the smear that he's going through now. He should have paid the price(stupid tax) and then smarten up and surround himself with only those that you trust. Not strangers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

sounds like he would have ended up paying the stupid tax

at least 22 times

Maybe he and his lawyer knew it could have been more like 52 times had the flood gates opened and they took the calculated risk?

Should admit he has a problem a move in from there ....

Is this acceptable behavior from a Clemson Man?

Apr 7, 2021, 11:30 AM

His behavior is the problem ...

Come on, we are better than this... show some backbone.

Clemson has high standards until our highest profile athlete ignores them?

Now we make excuses for him?
Call the victims “######”?

Deny, deny, deny .... sounds familiar ... and it disgusts me... just a sign of the times and par for this course, I guess.

I know we bleed orange, but the porta-johns at Clemson stink, just like every other school on game day ...

Hooking up with chicks is unacceptable?

Consensual sex is a behavioral problem?

It is he says she says.. no criminal charges have been made.. no case has been tried...not 1 concrete shred of evidence.

I like to think clemson fans are smart enough to understand due process.. ..but it seems the status quo is to believe whatever u see on the internet.

Before they are “victims” I need proof of wrong doing and that has not been provided. “Me Too” brought a lot of money grabs without evidence and I’m not buying anything until I see evidence!! #ProveIt.

Just off the top of my head Ben Rothsburger, Brett Farve, Payton Manning, and Kobe Bryant were accused but they still managed to survive and thrive afterwords. If someone doesn’t wanna fight it and just pay the person off that’s fine. If someone wants to prove they’re innocent I respect that a heck of a lot. Exploitation and blackmail are not okay and if actions were consensual or normal for a massage as other masseuses stated then maybe these women are in the wrong profession.

Favre had that nice pic of him wearing his crocs. Not sure what the big deal about that was in the first place. Many people wear crocs.

Apr 7, 2021, 9:48 AM [ in reply to this would have saved his repuation/career had he agreed. ]

For what it's worth, Watson's lawyer was explicitly trying to come to a lower price, basically to just make it go away (so to speak) rather than an admission of guilt. That's extremely common in civil cases----make a claim, present to the defense, they counter-offer, and finally both parties settle. In this case, it likely would have been closer to $50k.

I also think Watson's reputation will be fine. Look, I'm certain there will be fans who will always hate him anyway no matter what, but my sincere belief is that Watson is a champion; he's different. I believe part of what got him into this mess is exactly what makes him uniquely prepared to not just deal with this, but overcome it. DW won't play the victim role, but I wouldn't be surprised if instead he champions women's rights even more than ever. Deshaun isn't bulletproof, but he's no quitter.

Life is all about meeting strangers, though. Maybe don't put yourself naked in a room with them with no visitors though, I hear you on that.

Being nekkid in a room may be common

For traveling masseuses. Ive never had one so I don't know the protocols.

I don't like strangers rubbing on me. ..but I imagine athletes are use to it.

A civil suit about a criminal act which was never reported to the police is usually just a shakedown for money. Even moreso if the plaintiff tried to extort money from the defendant in advance. This does not stand a chance if it makes it to court.

To be clear, she said it wasn't "just" about money, but now it's down from $100k to $500, the legal minimum in TX for a peer review.

If it were another Tiger DW4 would get a pass, like in Tiger Woods. Woods was married at the time, but turn on the golf channel and you would think that Tiger never did anything wrong, and I notice he's still wearing Nike clothing! This is why I hate reporters in general, and arm chair QB's in particular. DeShawn is convicted, in the press and some people on TigerNet, and he may be, however, let him have his "day" in Court at least. After all, DW4 didn't arrest a 17 time convicted felon who died while resisting arrest yet again, for yet another felony, and then be charged with murder!
