I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Wow.

That will go a long way to winning at the line of scrimmage.

This is what I said would happen when this all started. Set up a charity and have boosters funnel money into it and pay these Student athletes advertising money to promote it and it is a win win for boosters(write offs) players(get NIL) and there companies(good PR donating to charities). NCAA cannot do one thing about it, because boosters are donating to charities and the charities are paying someone for the NIL to advertise.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. NIL was ALWAYS going to escalate into sale to the

highest bidder, for some types of players. $50,000 a year to a kid from poor circumstances must seem like millionaire money.

I saw this trend a few weeks ago. Running NIL thru a charity or foundation. It's kinda BS. Wouldn't 800k go a long way in funding the mission of the charity? Is paying football players the best use of this money?

It's straight up money laundering, make s it a tax free donation.

All this is really getting out of hand.

Wonder if there will be a backlash at some point.

Completely agree. It is going down the tubes whether we like it or not.

We knew this would occur.

It’s the longhorns, and they will try to push as fas as they can, always. Remember, it was their push for the longhorn network that killed the Big 12 and left them in their current purgatory.

A lot of schools have boosters doing this...

Dec 6, 2021, 3:00 PM

I can't remember the school but in that particular instance, in addition to all players receiving a large payments annually, the booster has also agreed to cover 100% of tuition costs for all of the walk-on players.

The Vegas board should do odds on which player the IRS jails for income tax fraud... The next commercials will be trolling "Been arrested by the IRS?, call Snidely Whiplash at 555-5555" "CALL ALL 5'S!!!!

Re: This seems like a big deal-- NIL related...

Dec 6, 2021, 3:25 PM

That is a big deal, that’s a huge deal. That’s why the dozen or so largest schools with the largest fan bases and the richest boosters will ultimately own college football in the next 10 years. Smaller schools like Clemson will not have a chance to compete. There will be so much money being thrown at athletes that they will naturally go where they can get paid the most NIL money, and that won’t be at a smaller school like Clemson. At least we had our brief, shiny moment in the sun, but all good things must come to an end, and I just don’t see any way Clemson can compete with the money of Texas, or Ohio state, etc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

100 percent correct

Dec 6, 2021, 3:55 PM

I had a conversation with DRAD about this about a year ago. He agree if guardrails were not put in place it would hurt Clemson. Well guess what...right now there are no guardrails!!! Texas, Ohio State, Texas AM are licking their chops.

It's also not the only NIL deal for the Texas OL.

If you add up a the deals it's 150k. This doesn't include individual deals or autograph s.

Forget highschool, if you're one of the best OL man In the country wouldn't you just transfer to Texas?

When are we getting started w something like this? I know the coots are doing something similar, garnet trust...I thought we were on the cutting edge w our NIL dept. I would love to see Tnet get in the game! Start paying players to promote this site, spokesman if u will. I would pledge $1,000 a year if I knew it was helping Clemson get top notch recruits. Now of course, I know that’s not a lot, but a little from a lot equals much! I know many Tnetters that would do that and more! Paging Crump and BMeist...lets get to it!

Welcome to the wild west of NIL where paying players is

Dec 6, 2021, 9:16 PM

no longer done under the table nor is it against the rules. All an OL for Texas has to do is make one Facebook post or a Tweet and they will claim that $50k NIL money for practically doing nothing.

This ain't about a charity or they would simply give all that $800k to people in need instead of giving it to the Texas scholarship O lineman. Nope - what Texas is really doing is sending a message to all those stud offensive lineman they want to sign: come to Texas and we will pay you $50k a year to play. How long before this turns into bidding wars between schools with that kind of access to booster cash?

If this type of thing starts growing unabated it will ruin college football as we know it and truly turn it into nothing but a mini-NFL except there will be no caps and those schools with cash will buy the top rosters and their championships.

The people in favor of NIL wanted to destroy college football and they are on their way to doing just that. In a few years it will be just like a professional league and all pretense of it being anything else will be gone forever. It'll be great for the agents and dirt bags who thrive in this environment though so yay for progress.
