This post is to honor all the veterans who have given ....

Nov 11, 2017, 5:57 AM

so much to defend and honor our country. In particular, I would like to honor my brother-in-law, Gene.

Gene served honorably in Vietnam and was a tunnel rat. For those of you who do not what a tunnel rat is- he basically had to crawl on his belly through small unlit tunnels under the ground with a flashlight and a weapon to find and fight the enemy. Gene survived his encounters with the Viet Cong but is losing his fight with lung cancer thought to be caused by agent orange(a chemical sprayed by the military from the air as a defoliant in Vietnam). He is in the last stages of hospice care and this will be his last Veterans Day so think of Gene in your prayers. I have included a link to a movie trailer called tunnel rats which will give you guys a small idea of what he went through and a link to agent orange.

I was formally known as Furious george and have changed my name to match the name I use to call on WCCP radio.

Thanks and prayers for Gene!!***

Words cannot begin to express the admiration I have for Gene and everyone who served and experienced as he did in service to our nation.

May God bless and watch over them all.

Thanks for sharing George.

Thank you, Gene saved many lives doing that terrifying work,

My brother, with two weeks left, trying to save his brothers with his helicopter, landed right on top of a Vietcong filled tunnel system and lost his life, with only two weeks left.

See Youtube at Dogtags and Body Bags, A Tribute to Barry Alexander.

Where is Gene's Hospice? I volunteer at Charleston VA Hospice in memory of my Brother and Father who fought in Okinawa.

Prayers for Gene and all others who have served. A close friend died a couple of years ago due to Agent Orange.

I have two uncles that were in Vietnam. They both came back a little messed up. The older of the two still hadn’t gotten his head straight, but drs have been saying their exposure to agent orange. It didn’t help that they were scorned and largely mistreated when they came home. Prayers and thank you to all of our Veterans and those still in the military

One of my main concerns for all of the veterans returning home is they great medical and psychological testing. We have too many of our servicemen homeless and committing suicide

Wooo, your story has poked me in both eyes, as I know of Gene's job very well, and his job was much appreciated by every Vet that ever served and walked across the jungles of Nam. Because of men like Gene, a lot of men came home bc of his job well done. God will bless him, and it truly saddens me that he brought the orange sickness home to cause his death 40 years later. Thank him for his service for me, and God bless his soul to be free in Heaven, Amen!!!
