"white out" for the Thursday night game against Wake. I want to see a white helmet. I'm not saying all the time. Our orange helmet is the best helmets in college football, but breaking out a white helmet every once in a whole would be awesome.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think of white out and PSU.

Jul 17, 2012, 10:41 PM

So, no.

If Notre Dame can change it up, we can...

Jul 18, 2012, 10:08 PM

They're the ultimate tradition program. If they can change up their uni's once and a while than we sure can. Plus it's HUGE for recruiting....they love that $#!T

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Notre Dame went to a throwback helmet, not a new design

Jul 19, 2012, 7:51 AM

Clemson has never worn a white helmet.

Seems easy and sounds good, but

Jul 17, 2012, 10:54 PM

Don't mess with the helmets (period).

It's going to happen eventually. Get ready for it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Seems easy and sounds good, but

Jul 17, 2012, 11:03 PM

Why should it happen? Other than a few schools, the high profile schools (Bama, Texas, LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, etc.) do not find it necessary to mess with their helmets. Our helmets are the best looking, easily recognizable helmets in the NCAA and their is no need to change.

Re: Seems easy and sounds good, but

Jul 17, 2012, 11:11 PM

LSU has white ones, ND has Gold with clover on the sides and UM busted one out with numbers on the sides as well. The UM numbers weren't big , but there nonetheless.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I give you a point for that disection LOL***

Throwing in a whit helmet every once in a while will not hurt our image.

Dude, Michigan's were throwback helmets. You youngsters!***

Silly. We have very distinguishable uniforms, and that creates a brand. Why would you want to hurt that brand with silly white helmets?

Jul 18, 2012, 12:55 AM

Wearing a white helmet once a year will not hurt our brand. Also recruits love these things.

Sure it hurts the brand.
Turn on our games and you KNOW who it is.

I actually had an entire uniform idea back when I was an undergrad. The helmets were two tone, purple with orange flakes so when the light hit it, it looked orange. It also sported a white paw. It looked awesome.

Re: I know many will disagree but I would love to see a

Jul 18, 2012, 2:20 AM

I like the white helmet with the orange paw, but would only want to see it in specific games. I don't want to see it become an every other game sort of thing though.

our school colors, but this quote is pretty funny.

Bama used white helments for certain games in the 60's

Jul 18, 2012, 7:17 AM

I dont advocate changing our helmet. Just pointing out a situation most would not suspect happened

it's hard to deny

Jul 19, 2012, 7:42 AM [ in reply to This old timer would go for these once a year! ]

recruits and kids love this stuff. Even back in the day Danny knew this and it was a factor in us winning. I'm pretty sure Danny's exact words were "You'd be amazed at what a kid will do if you let him wear orange britches." Go ask Oregon how it helps their recruiting. Not saying we need to go crazy like that, but once a year would be cool.

Jul 18, 2012, 8:45 AM

I agree, even teams with traditional approaches to uniforms like uga, nd, and michigan have alternates that they break out every so often. Whiteout would look sweet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

COLLEGE: A three-year starter at strong safety for Clemson, finished his career with 234 tackles and 11 interceptions.

hey Melclem

Jul 18, 2012, 11:17 PM

Better call ESPN and get them to stop using that white flag with orange paw logo every week. Would hate for that to hurt our brand.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't have a problem with it

Jul 19, 2012, 12:07 AM

It's not like wearing the 1939 throwback helmet in once in 1995 and once in 1996 hurt our identity any.
