Me.

I don't know if I'm technically pro choice

Given my issues I have with abortion being used as a method of birth control or anything that could be done later in the pregnancy that wasn't done due to a threat to the mother's life; however, like Joe, I do think it should ultimately be left up to the states.

I'm firmly against any state, however, prosecuting any person who leaves the state to go to another state for an abortion.

Thank you! The most sensible post I’ve seen! With free birth control medication access and condom distribution through FREE clinics. Why would you even have to consider abortion? The only scenario I would agree with is pregnancy by rape or some kind of incest! All other instances is on the woman and man.

I think that Roe and Casey were bad law BUT

I'm Pro-choice up to a point. Definitely not okay with late term.

I'm perfectly fine with the court ruling. Reading what was leaked, it makes sense.

On the other side, when the ACA ruling came out, I didn't like it but understood the Court viewed it as a tax and allowed as such.

People these days are so knee jerk and don't even read why they ruled accordingly.

Why not let individual people decide?

That's implied by saying individual states.

70% of Americans don't want this overturned. What about people that want an abortion but live in a state where it is banned? Doesn't sound like freedom to me.

Absolutely let individuals decide. You can say it is best to let the states decide BUT many have already decided and are just waiting for Roe to be struck down by the Supreme Court. All of us who are pro-choice know this is coming. As I’ve said before, until the sp&@m donors can carry a baby for 9 months let the women be in charge of this one. Abortion should not be a means of birth control for these idiots that keep getting pregnant over and over. That’s just reckless behavior. I’ve never had an abortion but I know people that have. Some of these women don’t take it lightly and have agonized over the decisions they’ve made.
The problem with states given the authority is some of them are ridiculous when they force a woman who has been raped or molested into having a baby under those circumstances. That is so extreme and ridiculous. WTH? I believe having a choice is imperative but I really hope the choice would be to save the baby if possible. There should be restrictions on how far along a pregnancy is before it cannot be aborted. A good compromise would be no abortion after the 1st trimester. That is around 13 weeks. I don’t feel comfortable at all with anything after that and think it really should be earlier than that. The whole thing is really sickening to think about to begin with.

Why not let individual people decide?

Because the person (s) that made the choice to initiate and participate in the “act of reproduction “ made 1 bad decision already! Why would I give them more choices? They clearly can’t think for themselves.

Yes, but with a qualifier re: definition of pro-choice.

Choice by the mother is fine up to the point where the fetus can live viably outside of the womb.

The only reason for abortion in the case of a viable fetus (i.e., killing the fetus) ... as opposed to a very early term C-Section (i.e., save the fetus) is if the C-Section procedure substantially endangers the pregnant woman's life.

So to summarize ... yes (but with the qualifier).
