This has been coming for years!

Anyone that didn't see this fall coming is fooling themselves. Clemson replaced two of the best defensive line coaches/recruiters in college football (Marion Hobby and Dan Brooks) with a guy whose specialty is writing poems (Todd Bates) and a former benchwarming Dabo teammate (Lemanski Hall). Dabo replaced one of the most innovative minds in college football (Chad Morris) with one of the most conservative, un-imaginative OC in current college football (Tony Elliot). Our recruiting ACE left for the state of Florida (Jeff Scott), and he was replaced with a former player who has no business coaching WR an elite school. We have an OL coach who is years past retirement, and Dabo just hired a Clemson legend with NO coaching experience to coach our RB. All said, the offensive staff is made up of four former players who had ZERO major college experience before coming to Clemson, and a OL coach who the game has passed by. On defense, you have Venables and Reed and that's it. There are probably 8 or 9 ACC staffs that I'd take over ours all day long! This has been coming for a while now...we just had first round draft picks at QB and DL hiding the glaring lack of staff.

Agreed! This poster sounds like some local high school coach that was spurned by Dabo at some point and has been keeping score on a whiteboard in his basement. He had to wait a very long time and ignore incredible results until, finally the broken clock is right once again.

Spot on. Cumulative effect has taken a toll and recruitment has slowed to a stall. Ignore these ignorant trolls below with head in sand.

Well you smart individuals are in the tiny percentage who aren’t completely shocked at this season. Even people who cover college football for a living are stunned at Clemsons performance. Maybe you should start a f***ing podcast.

Best is the standard. Hires are based on cultural fit first. Tommy West said he was bringing the family back together. Dabo has been doing some of the same at multiple levels. It's created some holes that mostly were glossed over or covered up. Time to pay the piper now. Sadly, this story is just a rerun from so many other programs. Hope it gets corrected. Go Tigers.

Say it Bubber!! I was so disgusted after this debacle I was not gonna post today but even our blessed defense is feeling the pain of this pitiful offense! I felt sick when DJ threw the pass directly emphatically to a Pitt player and here came the exhausted over used defense back out on the field . Maybe we need to get some players who at least are interested in playing football, and all kidding aside being a five star and having a name nobody can spell or pronounce isn’t working out to well.

I think Tajh Boyd would make an EXCELLENT recruiter !

Like you said, Jeff Scott WAS that guy. Promote Tajh to that roll. OC ? Looking at the game yesterday, play calls were fine ... but the implementers have to throw the ball and catch the ball to make them viable.

And I'm sure you have documented proof where you pointed that out years ago while we were winning Nattys. Our DL has 3 outstanding players under current regime in Murphy, Davis, and Bressee. Problem is 2 of them are injured. How many times did we beat S Carolina under Morris? And how has he done as a coach since he left Clemson? We just recruited a 5* RB under Spiller and have a good stable of backs. I suggest you pick one of those 8 or 9 ACC staffs that are better and become one of their fans.

Actually I do have proof of having been saying this for the last 3 years. You could see the downfall with our OL then. We don't have a 5 star RB....Shipley is good, but he's nowhere near some of the other talented FR RB in the country. Hell, he dropped a sure TD that may have changed the game yesterday. If you don't think that Morris is what changed Dabo's tenure, you don't understand football. You wouldn't have gotten DW without him, and he turned the offense completely around. Keep think this staff of best friends, former teammates, and former players is a good one and you'll watch this become an 8-4 team for a long time. There's a reason we get SMOKED in every second half...it's called adjustments and coaching.

LMAO...I'll take that bet on Shipley being a 1st rounder. You realize that the NFL often doesn't value RB in the 1st round, right? And when they do, it's true difference makers. Shipley is very good, but he's not a 5 star. Henderson at OSU is a 5 star. Shipley has under 263 yds rushing and 5 TD and 21 yds receiving in 5 games. Not sure where you are getting that he's a 1st rounder.

Lemanski Hall has done a poor job of developing talent like XT, KJ, and Mascoll.

I had forgotten that Kevin Steele and Chad Morris were our coordinators for our National Championships. And surely we could have gotten better D-line recruits than Page, Davis, Bresee, and Murphy. I know that they were ranked highly, but what do those people know.
I believe that Caldwell needs to be put out to pasture and there needs to be some consideration to getting rid of Grisham. Streeter's job has a position coach deserves evaluation, but I don't think most on Tnet are qualified to make that judgement. Your criticism of everybody pretty much shows that you lack the knowledge for that critique.
I think that Elliot has been too hesitant to change, but it is easy to criticize in hindsight. Considering he was in charge of the offense for every year that we were in the Playoffs, to me makes the resistance to change understandable. I think that what he does the rest of the season will be important for his future and tell whether he was an important part of our success or a product of the talent.

Can’t argue with one thing said in this post. I’d only add that Dabo hiring his buddy Mickey Conn was a bad hire too.
