They lost by 30 to Iowa, and was blown out last year.

I dont like it. I didnt want it to happen, especially with 2 SEC teams. However, it wasnt just that OSU lost 2 games, they got absolutely destroyed by an unranked team in one of the losses. I think had they barely lost to Iowa or if they had handled Wisc in the 10-14 range they would have been in, but they didnt. I think the committee just couldnt get past the beat down Iowa out on them in the end.

CFPC wants a final matchup that is strong D versus strong O. They do things in the final few weeks to give themselves flexibility and speculate for a matchup with those criteria. They do not want to see two very strong D (weak O) teams in the finals as that may damage the product long-term. I think they think no one is going to stop OK so that puts the O team in on one side. The other side is stacked for strong D. I think they anticipated this a few weeks back and moved Bama to 5 just in case so they would have flexibility to do what they wanted. Now if AU had beat Ga then I would have bet $ they put AU and OK in same bracket for same reason so as NOT to have AU vs OK in final. Just a little conspiracy theory, but remember most of the committee have ties to college programs and they ALL are hooked in to ESPN and they all read the papers and watch ESPN. That is part of the problem. This thing needs to be changed to be results on the field oriented, forgetting all this eye test and history stuff. Time for a big change. Move to 8 teams and drop season back by one game. Extra money from the added week of playoffs will more than pay for loss of revenue for most D1 teams dropping FBS opponents. Let first week of playoffs be on campus at conference champs. Rotate the 4 home sites among the 5 big conferences. This will spread the talent even more evenly as even more teams have a legitimate shot at getting into the 8 selected. Yes, you will still have to have a selection process for the 8, but picking the best 8 is a lot easier than picking the best 4, especially if 5 already come from conference championships. Just my 2 cents.
