Our receivers don’t get enough heat in here

Nov 6, 2022, 12:23 AM

Softest, most scared group I’ve seen. Don’t fight for balls, don’t block for ####, don’t run clean routes.

A lot of it is coaching.

This does not include Antonio Williams. He is the only bright spot in the group.

The WRs are good but the coach behind them is not. If we had Elliott or Scott (Both) we stomp ###.

It's that new Richardson/Streeter run the route you think is

Nov 6, 2022, 12:32 AM

open plan that they talked about in the off season. Problem is, the QB has to guess quick which route you're running.

Interesting point. I suspect the devastating INT pick 6 from DJ to Ngata was one of those option routes that went terribly wrong. I had my doubts about the concept back in August when Streeter talked about how that was an NFL based adaptation. Sure in the NFL the players have practice time and experience to play with that type of chemistry.

True. But I think at this point it’s a foregone conclusion. Everybody knows it. They’re the lowest performing unit on the team imo.

Grisham is the man to blame. If you can call him that. IMO he wasn’t great ever. So why hire him?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Serious reevaluation of route trees is a priority. Coaching.***

Wide Receivers have been absent from the program since 2020. The fact that this hasn't been addressed and fixed since then is concerning.

How about their position coach, whose primary

You mean like Danny Pearman? The $250k a year "ghost of portal management"?

Not long ago, we were WRU

I don’t know a Clemson fan who doesn’t see that we’ve fallen off with Grisham.

John Gruden is hireable.

They spend more time trying to block than catch... This is

Nov 6, 2022, 12:45 AM

more about a F'ed Up offensive game plan and Chitty routes than it is about players not executing...

How many bubble screens were thrown tonight? 10, 12, 15...?

The ENTIRE passing game needs to be revamped. Period.

They may need to learn the difference between North/South and East/West first.

Our California receivers (and QB) are soft. Been posting that for a while now.

Re: Our receivers don’t get enough heat in here

Nov 6, 2022, 1:08 AM

Think about all the receivers coached by Jeff Scott that landed on NFL rosters because they learned the craft of WR. Not just the studs. Humphries, Peake, Renfrow. Watkins was a stud but he’s still in the NFL after all the injuries because he too knows the craft. Then we have the stars like Hopkins, Mike Williams, and Tee Higgins. All successful because they aren’t just getting by on talent.

We have almost none of the above after 3+ years of Coach Grisham. It’s just sad to watch the decline.

Nov 6, 2022, 1:03 AM

Said and I’ll say it again streeter and Grisham don’t deserve the jobs they have and if we wanna move forward both need to be gone after this year … I love Clemson guys and wish it would have worked out but it’s a business at this point and I can be thankful for your contribution to Clemson football while also saying you’re a terrible coach right now … could end up being greats but we are better than some coaching development group
