a fitting gesture, but maybe more could be done by all the member schools of the acc,and not just the football teams.

Yeah they will. It's a brother and sisterhood. So many of these athletes are former friends. Not just football. Many of the other sports have roomies that play other sports. They meet at camps, family reunion events etc. Some families are split, son goes to osu, daughter to uva. High school friends.

Pray for the team members that survived. Who knows how many are feeling guilty because maybe they backed out on the trip. It's just so sad. But in the long run a lot of good will come out of these evil acts.

Well sad! What a tragic and horrible ending for such young people. We all mourn the loss of anybody especially in our ACC family!

So…Notre Dame? “All the member schools…not just football” only leaves one more school.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wonder if Clemson will wear the white helmet or navy?

Nov 17, 2022, 3:46 AM

I know we’ve always joked about wanting to wear a white helmet some day, but this is not the way anyone wanted it to happen.

Cool gesture, but man what a devastating situation for those families. Those young men were getting a free education from one of the top 5 universities in the nation - overcoming what many of their friends and family back home could not overcome. And then this senseless act happens. So incredibly sad.

From what I understand the UVA logo is 1.5 inches

Nov 17, 2022, 4:05 AM

Thinking it’s just a sticker we put on the back of our normal helmet. Only a guess though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Probably so. I’d also add that whoever on our staff

Nov 17, 2022, 8:28 AM

can get this done in the next 48 hours should be put in charge of away ticket distribution starting next year.

Nov 17, 2022, 8:36 AM

Putting stickers on helmets? Happens all the time...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

they probably have to get that many from UVA and in 48 hours

Nov 17, 2022, 9:27 AM

kind of like away tickets - they have to get them from the other school and get them distributed to the purchasers- they have months for that and can't get that done right

Re: they probably have to get that many from UVA and in 48 hours

Nov 17, 2022, 9:33 AM

All they have to get is an image file...we can print them ourselves. Schools add helmet stickers for special occasions week to week all the time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

kind of like tickets, you get a file and can print yourself

Nov 17, 2022, 1:17 PM

kind of missing my point - both of these things should be pretty easy to accomplish

send a file

Agreed. I remember when they wore a JP decal the week Jim Phillips passed. I think they were playing UVA that week.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ahh gotcha. Thought we were wearing their actual helmet.

Nov 17, 2022, 8:48 AM [ in reply to From what I understand the UVA logo is 1.5 inches ]

that makes more sense.

Re: Ahh gotcha. Thought we were wearing their actual helmet.

My first thought was that everyone would be replacing their normal helmet logo with the UVA one, but then it quickly occurred to me that they're most likely talking about putting it on the back of the helmet.

I gotta admit, as much as I am *not* a fan of UVA, especially football, it would be a pretty neat gesture to use their logo as the main helmet graphic for a week (then put the stickers on the back for the rest of the season.)

Also, Liberty has announced that it will wear all navy blue uniforms in honor of the UVA students in the game against the Hokies. The hope is that VaTech will wear all orange.

Nice gesture. But honestly

I’m ready for some wildly creative person to come up with another phrase to use when a tragedy happens.

Anytime anything happens, it’s “ #_______Strong”

I mean it in a nice way.
Just think it’s become so cliche that it doesn’t really have any meaning anymore when it should.
That’s all.

Every team at every level should wear a UVA logo.

I hope it's the "V" with the crossing swords. No disrespect UVA but that new cyclops looking logo with the feather in "UVA Strong" is not attractive.

I did notice that one of the ACC schools volleyball coaches was wearing an Orange Ribbon on her jacket during a match on ACCN last night. I think it was Wake.

I would guess it will be the image that is listed in the article, with the numbers of the three players

Great gesture. Anything at all that can bring any amount of peace and send some goodwill to the teammates, family, and friends that are suffering so much from this tragedy
